The HTC One is an outstanding smartphone that has very few obvious flaws. It combines a gorgeous design with a very slick operating system. It is probably slightly tall for its 4.7-inch display – the Google Nexus 4 with its 4.7-inch display is a bit more compact in this regard. However, HTC has put this extra height to very good use packing in the best speakers on a smartphone to date. If you want a smartphone that you can use to play music in a dorm or small room, you need look no further.

There’s a good chance we’ll look back at the HTC One as a turning point for Android. It’s the first time build quality for an Android phone has reached Apple levels of obsession, and it also shows off just how far Android and HTC have come over the past few years.

With the iPhone 5, Galaxy S4, and HTC One on the market, it’s a good time to be looking for a smartphone. They’re all solid choices — but if I had to pick just one, I’d recommend the One wholeheartedly. It’s not just a great phone, it’s a rare piece of technology that instantly makes everything before it seem less interesting.

As you can see, there’s certainly a lot to talk about when it comes to the HTC One. HTC took a gamble by focusing its efforts on a single device and equipping it with a four megapixel imaging sensor. Did the gamble pay off? I think it did. The HTC One is by far the best smartphone I have ever used. HTC will always have to justify its actions as long as Samsung and Apple dominate the smartphone space, but I feel the HTC One has set the company on a new course and will show consumers that HTC is currently ahead of the competition.

HTC has put together a winning formula here, an absolute killer design, the best display money can buy on a phone, an above average performing camera, superior sound quality to anything else on the market and some software innovations like BlinkFeed and HTC Sense. When the entire thing comes together, you’re left with one hell of a premium device. I am not the kind of guy to run around handing out 5 out 5’s to every or anyone, but HTC earned it today folks!

The One is a great phone and in my personal opinion, the best on the market right now. I haven’t had a chance to spend an extended amount of time with the S4 yet so that may change but I have played with the S4 some and I still prefer the One. The build quality and design is definitely superior with the One. The camera is amazing. The screen is amazing. In terms of the software, the One and Sense 5 are pretty easy to use and relatively simple to pick up and go. There are some software things that I found myself missing in Sense and there were a few annoying little things in the software as well but the overall experience I had with the phone was great and, as I stated, a lot of those annoyances can be fixed.

I believe it was on this week’s Droid Life Show when I said the HTC One is the – Best. Smartphone. Ever. I think a part of me truly does feel that way, but at the same time there a few things I would have changed. Stop making Sense so confusing, throw in a beefy 8MP or 13MP camera without the Ultrapixel marketing gimmickry, and get it onto Verizon’s network.

At the end of the day, this is currently my favorite Android smartphone of all time, so that does count for something. It is an absolute dream to feel in the hands and the device is extremely pleasing to look at. It’s the ultimate sensory-pleasing package of a phone. If you are shopping for a new Android phone, you have to check out the One from HTC.

"Facebook phone" should be considered a misnomer for the HTC First. In reality, it's just another Android phone that runs a different kind of software. The HTC First can disable Home and become a stock, though not current, version of Android that is just as capable as other devices of its ilk.

This is definitely a phone that showcases the best Facebook has to offer to smartphones, but it is not limited to that set-up thankfully. Though Zuck and his cohorts make mistakes that lead to persistent annoyances, they wisely let users reign in some of those features to make for a better phone.

All is well that's priced well. We had no qualms considering that it has premium features but as in Einstein's theory of relativity, a smartphone's attractiveness is drawn in comparison with its competitors.

In this case, the HTC One has the Samsung Galaxy S4. Look wise, HTC One has hardly any problem but as I said earlier, the octa core processor of Samsung Galaxy S4 leaves little room for the One to compete in the arena of computing power.

With hardware built like a luxury car and software that does it justice, there is no doubt that the HTC One is the best phone you can buy right now. Forthcoming competition from the Samsung Galaxy S4 might sway our opinion but as of now this is definitely the iPhone of the Android world.

The camera on the phone leaves us disappointed but if you’re looking for a top end smartphone with a focus on excellent craftsmanship and software that just works, this is your best bet.

I can boil the preceding 3,000 or so words into a few brief sentiments for you to chew on: the HTC One is easily the best device that the company has ever crafted, and it’s perhaps the single nicest Android phone I’ve ever used. Despite some minor faults, I haven’t so much as picked up any of the other Android smartphones scattered around my office during my time with the One unless I absolutely had to. It’s really that good.

The battery is not long-lived...if you are not careful it will dial numbers because you touched it incorrectly...sometimes slow to react....as soon as I can I will be getting an IPhone...it has many for advantages...it is much more dependable according to other family members who own them...we had to work very hard to find a ring tone that could be heard...missed important emergency calls.

Unfortunately, that's all the good I can say. Android 4 is a big disappointment. Included apps are incomplete and the interface with them is often non intuitive. Poor programming. Buying apps to improve a poor system is just throwing good money after bad.

I'm not an iphone user or blackberry or any other smarthphone user.

The poor apps would be ok if the phone worked. It doesn't. Poor reception in areas where I've used other phones from other manufactures on the same network. It's only clear when you are close to the tower.

Mercifully, this piece of junk stopped working after six weeks so I can go get a better one. Not dropped or abused. It was sitting in my pocket and failed. It won't charge, reboot, turn on, or hard reboot. A useless paperweight. Guy at the store professed his surprise (of course he would). My first and last HTC. My first and last Android phone unless it's improved.

This phone has no battery life to speak of. It also shuts itself off at will. Once it erased all my data. I sent it away for repairs, they reflashed the software. I upgraded to Android 4.0.3 and it still does its shut off routine. It is also a very quirky phone and does not always do what you want. The human interface and some of the options are poorly thought out - when I got it and listened to the sales guy, it seeemed like a prefect little smartphone. After using it for three months I think I'll put it up on eBay and get something decent like an iPhone or a Blackberry.

It also has a very quiet ring. I downloaded some loud ringtones and that makes it a little better but in a loud place still not nearly good enough.

The screen is too sensitive, even with a protector. Sometimes it willl react if your finger happens to be close but not touching.

This phone's support is also poor. My suppliers support staff (Rogers) are semi-educated in the functions and HTC's support is arrogant and not much better.

Stay away from it.

Wonderful little device with great display. Thin, light with a rubberized shell. nice to hold and you can hol it all day long.

Problem is that many HTCs, and this phone is no different, are plagued with a random and recurring boot-loop. You cannot remove he battery either. Soooo ... You're in he middle of an important call and the phone randomly reboots. You're sleeping and he phone randomly reboots ( and when it does, it plays it's little tube and wakes you). You're having dinner and the phone is 10 feet away and it reboots. And, when it does, it does so over and over and over (like 7 times or so).

Solution seems to be a hard reset, with SIM removed (wipes your data, newly added apps, data settings and personalizations). However, this only gives you about 16 hours of peace ... MAX.

So, if you dont want to be a slave to your phone and you value reliable communications ... my latest solution is to return it and exchange it for a good old reliable Samsung.

This phone is good for someone who is looking for a good reliable phone. I would suggest buying it unlocked. I got it for $299 at Mobilicity. I have a 35 dollar/month plan with unlimited internet.

-The phone looks great! (multiple homepages is a plus)
-It has flash for watching videos
-I can use most full websites (this is a major plus because I have unlimited internet)
-Compatible with Opera Mobile
-Auto rotate for a bigger keyboard
-User friendly
-Google Application on the Front Home page
-Love the ability to create folders on the hope page
-Email synchronization
-I have dropped this phone several times (I do have screen and a case protector with no damage)
-I can use the book reader if I need to read a book
-Google Play is pretty good
-the phone is small enough to fit into pockets, not bulky.

Cons
-Phone is a little heavy
-Front facing Camera is poor quality
-Auto rotate has a slight time delay
-Does not work very well with Slacker Radio Application (but not too many phones do)
-The battery life is only about one day! (especially with a heavy online user like myself)

Really like the screen, the camera and the LTE download speed, but the battery life is unacceptable.

One day the battery went totally flat in 5 hours after I took 20 pictures and 4 mins of video.

Even after installing a battery management app and turning off auto brightness on the screen, any significant use drains the battery rapidly.

The specs claim extended standby time, but I calculate it to be 48 hrs even with zero use. Even when not illuminated, the screen takes significant battery power, using over half of the total draw according to the battery app.

Problems with the phone from day one. Started a few weeks after getting the phone, garbled calls and dropped calls even when sitting down. I would make a call and it would keep ringing on my end when the other party as answered and could hear me. I never Could get the missed call notification to work. You will be lucky to get 12 hours of battery that includes one 10 munite conversation. I called Bell so many times they were on speed dial, try this try that. No mater what they would not replace the phone.

Unless you live in an area where LTE network is available do not but this product, i just went through 2 of these in 3 days and well because i dont live in an area where LTE is available im hooped

Let me say up front that when the phone works the way it is suppose to, I love it. However, I went through 3 of these phones and still have serious issues with the one I ended up with (I'm with Rogers BTW).
- The phone will shut off or freeze up unpredictably and the only answer is to remove and re-install the battery.
- Sometimes when I try to place a call i can enter the number and get to the 'Dialing' message, but the call never goes through. Turn the phone off/on and calls can be placed.
- Battery life is absolutely horrible. If 3G and wifi turned I can't get through a day even if I don't use the phone.
- I tried to do the Magics exchange through Rogers way back when these problems first manifested but the program was suspended and they never followed up (as they indicated they would) if the program was re-instated.

Unhappy with the phone. Unhappy with Rogers.

I finally gave up, dropped my data plan and went back to a simpler phone.
