Pros
I dropped the phone outside in the rain and somebody found it two days after. The phone was still working just fine. The buttons and screen are made tough so I still use it now in 2011. So physically the pone is good.

Cons
The interface is not so user friendly. It does not have all the letters of the French language so I have to make errors when I send text messages. The sound quality is poor and I have to repeat all the time. So what is inside the phone is not incredible.

I have this phone for over 6 years and I can't get rid of it. Still working, no faults, battery good. Looks like this phone will last forever.

This Siemens was the first cell phone I owned - came free with a FIDO contract for me, and I've had it for almost 3 years now. Considering that: great find.

Like the previous reviews have mentioned, it's pretty basic. But considering its simplistic nature, it does a good job with:
- sound clarity
- volume
- screen clarity
- relative ease of use
- texting (though there's a bit of a lag depending on how fast you text).
- excellent battery life (considering how much I use it I'm not having to constantly charge it)
- quite cheap

It's also a resilient little bugger; I've dropped it quite a few times over the years, and it had nothing more than a little scrape or two on the side. The downside is that one too many drops and years of constant use later, the vibrate is now on it's dying breaths. As I always keep it on vibe or vibe/ring, it's time for a new phone.

Cons:
- no camera
- limited extra features (games, music, ringtones, etc)
- navigating around menus is sometimes long-winded
- relatively low screen resolution
- seems quite old school nowadays

But overall I have no major qualms about this one - it was a good sturdy phone if you're not looking for anything too fancy. Cute little brick-phone design makes it easy to start right away without flipping open either.

Folks:

I bought my S55 in 2003 and it is still working absolutely error-free, even after five years! It did never let me down, in any situation. I just love it and I dearly hope that it will never leave me (at least not in the next 2 or 3 years)... A sleek design, still up-to-date features, an acceptable sound and an unmatched user-friendly interface (the address book in particular). Furthermore, is has an almost inexhaustable standby-time (1 week? 2 weeks? I dont know - sometimes it seems to be going on forever)! :-) However, the price of 1200 USD is a little out of touch. When I bought my brand-new S55 in 2003 (The Original - Made in Germany), it did cost about 500 USD. However, this phone is not made any longer, as the German manufacturer Siemens Mobile vanished in 2007. Could be that this is a collector's price!?

Con: Don't know because I don't own one (or wish to!)

Just an observation, rather than a review.
This phone is shown on Yahoo/Amazon as being available for just under $1200!
I only hope that either it's a pricing error, or Siemens have had a lot of complaints!

I liked the phone it was small and light and gave several years of no problems. We just upgraded our phones to stay with the tech curve. easy to use very user friendly. It is great for the not so technologically inclined. Dave Tulsa, OK

I've had this phone for 4 years. I have dropped it so many times I lost count. More than once I've had to put it back together again after it broke apart (into 3-5 pieces). It continues to work perfectly. The reception is excellent. More than once friends or family I have been traveling or shopping (crowded theme parks/stores/shopping malls)with have asked to borrow it as their more expensive phones (camera/mp3 player/games/colored screens, etc.) couldn't deliver what it was really purchased for...to make a call.

I've had this phone for over 3 years now, and I am surprised that I still have more than I need.
It is small, has color screen, long lasting batteries, still like new, dropping it and kicking it didn't damage it.
Internet, and many more features, made this phone a good choice.
Worked even in SouthAmerica flawlessly.
I am not sure if I want to change for another one.
Maybe when they invent the new subcutaneous Phone implants...

Had mine for about 4 years? and its fine. It works, is nice and small, neat package. Has no camera but If I want to take photos, I'll use a camera! No Blue tooth etc but its a cheap phone and it works ok at what its meant to do.

Only cost me £30 new as well.

This phone is beatiful and just that.

Siemens could dye an go to h... that it will not be missed.

After one week I found that the battery wouldn't last one day!!!

I took the phone to service center and when they returned it, it was blocked!!! They changed the software and locked my phone to the operator. And they tried to charge me to set it back free!!!

Even after that the battery kept lasting just few hours. And the phone started peeling!!!
Have you seen a phone loosing its skin? Yeah Cf-62 does it!! By Siemens.

I find the phone number of Siemens CEO and told him everything I thought about such anti-etic company. He gave me another flip phone for free. I got it and sold it.

All of this took 6 months!!!

Siemens , never more, niether hospital equipment.
If they are no capable of making a cell phone, picture the quality of their X-ray machine or MRI.
