Given the price the Memo Pad Smart 10 retails at you can't really expect it to move mountains. So the question here is: are you getting good value for money?Sort of – but also, not really. You see the MeMo Pad's retail price isn't all that low in context to other tablets of similar spec, which begs the question: what am I paying for? Turns out that you're paying slightly more than 'proper' budget offerings for what amounts to an HDMI-out port and not much more.

The Asus MeMo Pad Smart 10 might look a bit more of an attractive proposition when/if the Android 4.2 update enters the equation but until then we'd save some pennies, sacrifice some screen real estate, and get the Nexus 7 instead.

The Asus Fonepad offers everything you need and a little bit more at a competitive price tag. It has good build, offers 3G with voice calling and also comes with a micro SD expansion slot that is not present in the Nexus 7. If you don’t want to hold a large table to your ear, you can always get a earphone or a Bluetooth headset.

The Asus MeMO Pad ME172V isn't going to knock out any of the flagship small-screen tablets out there, but it's not meant to. At £129 it’s a more affordable Android option, and it's from a reputable tablet maker. The MeMO Pad isn't for gamers or power users, but it offers a solid experience for those interested in less demanding tasks like web browsing or media consumption.

There's a fine line between a quality, low-cost tablet and an underpowered, low-resolution tablet that happens to run Android and also doesn't cost all that much money. And that line, we've discovered, is about $50.

It's not often that we pick up a new device -- and quickly want to put it down again. A phone or tablet might not be the cream of the crop, but we try to find some good in it. Some reason to buy. But with the top-of-the-line hardware hitting a bit of a plateau over the last year or so, and with prices continuing to drop, we've raised our minimums. There's less room for low end these days, plain and simple.

We can’t recommend the Fonepad for everyone. The phone feature is interesting, but we suspect that only a fraction of users will actually use it. The device lacks the portability that we expect from a primary communication device, and using it alongside a phone implies either shelling out for a new SIM or the hassle of constantly swapping the SIM cards between the two devices.

Bottom line, don’t think of the Asus Fonepad as a replacement for your phone, but as a decent tablet with 3G that can actually take phone calls.

If you are not in the target audience for the Fonepad (namely those who don’t want to carry a phone for calls alongside a tablet for work) then the ASUS tablet will be less appealing. It is, however, a cheap Android tablet you’ll enjoy most of the time, if you are light-to-moderate as far as your daily usage is concerned.

If you often find yourself being on-the-go, the Fonepad is an excellent choice offering the best of both worlds: phones and tablets. It will do its best to never let you down (even if you sometimes have to wait a second or two for it to do something) and the battery will surely be to your liking; all this while never missing a call or a text.

We feel quite mixed about the FonePad. We really like the design and the price point is attractive for a 16GB model with microSD capability and 3G connectivity. The display is generally quite good, though it has its limitations.

Performance is reasonable for the price, but nowhere near as competent as the similarly priced Nexus 7. The FonePad’s call capabilities are, for us, negligible and we’ve thought this since the device was first announced. Our time with it has only confirmed this, but has also confirmed what we’d originally thought that it makes a fine low-cost tablet generally. The external build is more satisfying than the Nexus 7’s.

Light and easy to hold with comfortable curved edges, the VivoTab doesn’t match the Microsoft Surface for build quality, but otherwise it offers more storage and the full version of the Windows OS for the same price. Add its excellent music and movie skills and the VivoTab looks like a pretty good deal.

The Padfone 2 is a great idea, and one that’s mostly well-executed. There are definite advantages to having phone and tablet share a single set of apps and the same storage space, and – in theory – it makes sense not to double up on processing power, storage and cameras with discrete devices.

Don’t let its $150 cost fool you, just because it fulfills that age old adage of “you get what you pay for.” Sure it’s cheap, but there’s good reason for that. Naturally, its outdated specs and low-res display make it extremely obviously, but its molasses slow performance makes the experience extremely unbearable at times – justifying that cheap is cheap. Still, if you’re the kind of person with a lot of patience, you might not mind its arduous performance, but if not, stay far away from this. Somehow, it might end up being thrown across the room due to frustration

because I couldn't call out or answer a call without it ending the call on its own. Took it back to the store since I couldn't call or receive calls on it and they replaced it with a new one. I was thrilled that I could call out and receive, except I was shocked to find that now, I had no maps. Whenever I tried to use any of the Garmin features, I had no maps and I couldn't even add my own home address because it kept telling me that there was no data for that location (I live in a city and not some rural unknown place). I was so frustrated spending hours with tech support and with Garmin support to end up with nothing. Should I also mention that it created a second contact for every contact I had that had a second number (example one with the home number and one with the mobile number). I took it back and after much arguing with the supplier, I finally got an authorization to get it exchanged for a new model of phone. STAY AWAY!

got ASUS Eee Pad Transformer the over day , i like it a lot . had a bit off trouble in stalling norton , if you use fire fox to in stall you will be ok , do not use google. the sound could be better . and the manual could give you more infore about the tablet, but over all very good 8 out off 10
