After travelling in the US with Roam Mobility I can definitely say that their service is worth checking out. No matter how long you’ll be in the US or where you go while you’re there, you’ll be able to keep yourself connected without having to overpay for roaming packages from the “Big 3″ or coming home to a data roaming bill that exceeds the GDP of a small nation-state. It’s great to see a Canadian company take the initiative and come up with a solution with something for everyone, all at a very reasonable price. Do yourself a favour and check out Roam Mobility the next time you’re considering a trip to the US.

We had been traveling through these states in June and the service was working in very few areas leaving us without communication when we really need it.
Another thing we refilled the phone any way in advance,not waiting for it to expire and the phone was disconnected. All attempts to reach support and resolve the issue on Saturday and Sunday had failed.
They also cheat by not activating the service at the time scheduled until you manage to call them to activate. This condition is not known or obvious to the customer in advance and paid time is wasted on unnecessary calls during the trip.
Do not recommend it and wil never use it again in USA.

Spent 2 weeks in US driving to Florida recently and the service worked well on my Samsung ACE. Unfortunately like many smartphones (eg. Iphone) the ACE does not support the AWS 1700 Mhz 3G band that the ROAM network uses (T-Mobile) so I was limited to much slower 2G Edge speeds. This worked well enough even for Google Maps but it will be nice when T-mobile gets its network upgraded further for a better browser experience. Online top-up worked well although the text based option didn't work for me and I had to make a 611 call to get it topped up. Voice service was good in most areas. Check T-mobile coverage maps online if you are going somewhere obscure as they don't have as complete a coverage as ATT or Verizon. Overall a good solution that's simple to use.

This phone physically can be frustrating to figure out at first. However, when you do it is satisfactory for the job. My biggest complaint would be the format of the contact lists which does not allow you to transfer contacts from another phone and get all the information Bottom line though, is this is the best alternative if you spend some time in the US. The Canadian carriers are not interested in providing us with a viable US plan. I used my regular cell for 10 days in November and was billed approx. $270.00 with the best US plan my provider had. I have now been in the US for the past three months and Roam has cost me about $200.00 total. I did not get data, but the additional cost is pretty low. Until the US providers move into Canada and destroy our providers this is the best alternative. Some people buy throwaway phones with plans, but in discussions with them I think this is a better way to go.

If you live in a province that doesn't feel the need to rip you off by charging you the HST, then you'll want to watch out for Roam Mobility.

I bought 2 plans from them and noticed on my bill that I was charged $9.59 for taxes on a $79.90 invoice. I live in Alberta where they don't try to rip off Canadians as much, and I noticed that it was way more than the 5% GST that we have to pay.

So I emailed the company about it and this was their response;

"Thank you for your email. Our system is set up to charge the British Columbia tax. Unfortunately, we cannot change this or refund the difference, it is, as is."

If a company is offering a service across Canada, then they have to be set up to bill people properly based on where they make their purchase. According to my math, Roam owes me $5.59. With the attitude that they have in regards to overcharging, they won't be getting any more of my business. That just is as is.

The service works, but I would never be able to recommend them to anyone.

I love Roam Mobility.
I have bought 3 plans from them. They have made travel to the States
so easy. When my wife is in the stores it is so nice that I can call or text to track her down.
We are headed to Disneyland, so I am so glad we will be able to communicate. Not sure if I will pick up a data plan or not.
Believe the wife and I will be around $30 for the 5 days with
talk and text.

Try them they are great.
