Better than Bell...

10

10/10

I've been with Koodo for the better part of 2 years, pretty much since they went public. The main reason for going with them, billing by the second. Fido did it and that contract was almost done and decided to go with a new carrier after Fido's constantly dropping my calls. (Every call seemed to drop, regardless of how many different phones I used). Some carriers offer billing by the second, but that billing sometimes doesn't kick in until you been on the phone for xx minutes. Koodo is by the second from the time the call connects, so if you talk for 10 seconds, that's all you pay for.

For those that are unaware, Koodo uses the Telus network for its coverage as they are the same company. The whole concept is for users that really have no need to watch TV or surf the net, etc. So complaints of "lousy coverage" make no sense. The only times I've had no 'service' is through northern Ontario where few if any phones would get service (check local carrier service coverage maps, you'll see). Nothing but trees and rocks east of Kenora until you hit major centres like SS Marie, Thunder Bay, etc.

I bought the Motorola K1M so I could listen to music while at work and it's worked well as a phone. But this is a review for Koodo not the phone...

Never had any issues with Customer Service. I do most of my account dealings online 'self serve'. Their site can be a pain in the @$$ to navigate when it comes to modifying services, but it gets the job done, albeit slowly.

Some changes don't take effect until the next billing cycle others, within minutes. I have the old 5 Essentials and unlimited incoming calls. my bill is ususally around $50 per month.

So with per second billing and unlimited incoming calls, you can cut down your bill significantly. No system access fee is nice too. More pros than cons. It's funny how Telus, who owns Koodo, can compare/match their rates from Koodo...

I rated Customer Service as 10 as I do 99% of my own service issues online...if I have had to call, things were sorted out quickly and sufficiently.

So, after all this I doubt I'd change carriers for any reason, even if their commercials are on the ghey side... I've built up my tab to the point where I feel like getting myself a new phone for Christmas :)
