I recently got a new computer as a gift( I really needed a new one.) Anyways, I received a new computer and was thinking about internet service providers. I live in a rural area, so there's no cable or DSL out here. So, a family member called Bell and asked what internet services they offer to their rural customers. Amazingly enough, they had a new item, the Bell Turbo Stick. We sent away for it and it arrived four days later. The setup was simple enough when I think about it and then I started to test it. Using speedtest.net I found the speed of the stick and it was good. Not as good as the cable internet, though. For about 30 days, exactly the amount of time they allow you to return it, I had a great experience. It was consistantly fast and always had 4 or more bars. Alright, then I realized the data crunch. We signed up for the 500 mb plan which costs $35(after fees). We were told by a customer service rep that it was $5 extra for every additional 500 mb. Yet, we examined a bill that said it was $5 for the next 500 mb, then for another 500 it was $15. Ripped off! Also, the speed continued to drop. I was getting speeds that could be achieved on dial-up and was still getting high bills, I don't even use the internet a lot. Funny thing is, we only got the turbo stick because Bell Internet Rural was not available at the time. Now it is and we're stuck with the turbo stick. I contacted Bell and asked if they could eliminate or reduce the cancellation fee if we switched the turbo stick for Bell Internet Rural. Four of them said that there was nothing they could do and one girl said that "it may be reduced." Since then, the speeds are normal again, yet I'm still dissatisfied with their service because the data accumulates faster now for some reason and we cant afford $40/month and the $35 for the turbo stick just for internet service.

I'm not saying that Bell is a bad company but just don't turn to their mobility department, there's other companies.
