I use to think people overreacted when they complained about phone companies. And after alot of trouble getting the new iphone a few years ago I made the jump from rogers to fido. I have been charged 800 dollars by a fido attendant for a phone that was suppose to be 150 dollars. The phone took 7 weeks to arrive at the fido store when I was guaranteed by the service representative it would take less then one week. Getting the phone from the fido booth in the mall took 45 minutes, the guy was rude and like I said charged us 800 dollars, didn't change my plan, told us I had 1terabyte of data. I got home, the phone wouldn't work so I called fido the women said she was going to call me right back. She literally hung up on me and never called back. I had to go on google to fix it myself. To get my bill to what it was suppose to be we had to go through atleast five different phone calls and 6-7 different people on the phones telling us we HAD to pay for the whole phone that I was LYING about the original guy saying the phone would be under 200 dollars and that he would have told me to call back that week to set the price for sure (which is ridiculous why the hell should I have had to call them back right?). So not only were they rude, difficult, refused to listen to us till we kept calling, gave me incorrect bills then acted like I was just trying to get out of my bills, they made me so desperate I wanted to buy out of a brand new contract. Just when I thought it was all over and going to get better they've found a brand new way to screw me over. For my first phone term every time I got close to using up my monthly data I got atleast two messages warning me. I had more data with my new plan so when I didn't get a text I assumed I must have a ton of data left. I had never checked my data before, I didn't even know how to. I got my bill and it was more then double what It was supposed to be. I couldn't even be angry anymore I was just totally drained. I called fido for the millionth time and the guy shut me down over and over not listening to anything I said.
"Well you guys always use to message me so-"
"We never guaranteed anything,"
"Yes I know but how can you expect me to-,"
"We don't guarantee the data reminders,"
I hate this phone company, I hate the amount of stuff they get away with doing to people who get trapped into contracts, Rogers was always fair we only left because my phone broke and getting a rogers iphone was impossible at that time. I work in the service industry you should never assume that the customer is wrong, lying and that you can't do anything to make things better for them. If they are upset you listen, you don't interrupt. When they say they were wronged you need to try and right it. Fido is a bad phone company, with workers who probably get so many complaints a day that they are all bitter and burnt out. DO NOT GET A CONTRACT WITH FIDO. They will LIE to you until you think its a great deal then as soon as they have you they treat you like garbage because they know they can. Its like an abusive relationship.
