My son and I both have this phone. He started having issues with his and I thought maybe it was a "fluke" because mine didn't have the issues. However, now mine is also having the same issues - turns itself off when plugged in to charge, freezes up if a text message comes in when another is going out and have to pull out battery to get to reset itself, screen goes black for no reason . . . . not happy with this phone.

Husband bought the Eclipse. The style and lights and other functions were a sure sale. He started having problems two weeks after he bought it. Took it back to Sprint and they did not want to replace it. Phone continually disconnects from earpiece. Sometimes it locks up when ever around water, like rivers, or lakes. Would lock up when ever he was around a Wal-Mart store. Now it locks up when ever it feels like it. Sprint finally took it back, just before our 30 days was up. Had the same problem with the replacement, and this was on the second day. Took it back Sprint and they checked the phone at their repair station and one of the reps flat said, "I don't know what's wrong and we can't fix it." Was given another phone, same thing happened. Sprint even blamed it on the 'Jawbone' earpiece. Exchanged it again (for same phone), and I was told I would not be able to get another replacement. Phone is still doing the same thing. Now Sprint says they cannot exchange phone, because it is over 30 days from last time phone was replaced. Come to find out from one of the sales reps, right after we got the last replacement, all Katana's were, PULLED! Can you believe that? Sprint told my husband he had to contact Sanyo because Sprint could not do anything. Called Sanyo who says we can send the phone to them for 3-6 weeks and if they could not duplicate the problem, they will just send it back. Some Customer Service! Swindle people by selling defective phones, knowing they are defective, and do not want to replace or give a refund. So where we stand now is, we can send the phone back and wait to see if they can determine what the problem is and repair it, and if they can't repair it, we just have to live with it. Sounds like a rip off to me, by Sprint who knows these problems exits and still sale to consumers, and Sanyo who knows the problems exits but figures they got another sucker to buy their defective products. My advice to people considering buying this phone, “DON’T”! It is not worth the drama dealing with Sanyo or SPRINT!

BE WARNED Seems these phones all have a life clock. My phone display died just a few weeks ago. Since it was a corporate phone I was able to obtain another one (formerly used by one of my staff who was chopped by the economy). Both phones were originally purchased at the same time. Within a week a similar display problem occurred with my "new' phone. In chatting with some others in the office they too have seen the same problems with both the main display and the secondary displays (small one visible when the phone is closed) of their phones. They had already had to replace them. I don’t think this is a coincidence. Come on Sanyo – product quality on longevity are still important to the user community!!!! BE WARNED

Easy transferring of pictures etc. I wish this unit had a camera flash option. The 1.3 mp takes nice pics. Video (w/sound) quality is good. Lots of on board ringtones ,although I don't really care for most of them . I do not use the web much so with that said I wish the "softkey" shortcut could be disabled . Too easy to launch it accidentally. Let's check back here in a years time .

I switched from my old Sanyo m300 to the Katana Eclipse last August, and am quite fond of this sleek but simple phone. The pros are the long battery life (lasted way longer than my old phone), the good mp3 playback, the colorful lights (pretty when receiving a call!), and it's overall easy-to-use design. the cons are the voice playback (i.e. when you record a voice or the like, it sounds really scratchy), and the missed voicemail alerts (though it doesn't happen often, it's inconvenient). Those are the main things that stand out for me. But overall it's a hit with me!

The phone itself looks great and is very light. I have only had it for one day, so I can't really say too much. So far the sound is good and the settings and tools on the phone are very easy to use. The one huge problem is that the front screen crack withing 8 hours from the time I bought it. It is very weak and any pressure or small drops will damage this phone. The drop was about 1 1/2 feet and the middle of the front screen crack and a bunch of paint scraped off. This is the first phone I dropped that has ever broken and I drop my phones constantly cause my phone is always on my lap when I am driving. so when I get out of my car it always hits the concrete and they never brake, but this one did and it's not a small crack either. If you get this phone buy a case or make sure you never ever ever drop this phone....Now Let's see if they will return it. doubtfull cause bell is terrible.
