Samsung Vice / Reviews

We have been playing around with the Samsung Vice for the past few days and find it to be a solid – just above entry level – device. The best quality about the Vice is it’s price point at $49.95 on a 3-year contract. This is currently exclusively available at Bell and is a North American first.

At first when we saw pics surface that this was coming to Canada, I thought it was going to be another basic device that feels cheap in the hand. Rest assured when you hold this it feels solid and you feel you get more than you pay for. The Vice only weight 134 grams and has overall dimensions of 114.1 x 48.3 x 17.9 mm. The reason I say you feel like you get more than you pay for is because of its slide out full QWERTY keyboard. For the size of device this is one of the more spacious designs I have seen. Your fingers/thumbs will not get in the way of each other… even if you have a slightly larger digits you’ll find the keys are just the right size. Texting, e-mails and IM are a dream on this as this comes with threaded text messaging so you’ll be able to follow your conversations.

I had the phone for roughly a year, and at first it was okay. It froze and glitched occasionally, but that was pretty much it. I never experienced difficulties with the keyboard though, so I'm not sure why people complain about it, but that could just be me. Any-who, long-story-short, the phone gave up on me... and I it. One day, as I went to turn on my mobile device, the screen was completely black with slight illumination. After numerous attempts, I successfully turned on the phone with the screen acting normally, ( which, believe me, is quite, QUITE rare). Eventually, it just got to the point where the phone would never turn on. The phone is good at first, but trust me children... it doesn't last
(The phone has only ever been dropped mildly and has never been inside of a reservoir containing any liquid). Thank you.

I have had this phone for 10 months it started making me angry almost with in the first month. The text duplicate feature is so horrible excepicaly if you only text one or 2 people. You be almost 10 mins going through your texts to get the text u just received. The Bluetooth is only good for calls and if you get a lot of texts your car will be ringing all the time. The Bluetooth audio is almost useless you go to set up and play a song and it will take 30 mins you could burn 6 cds before it started working. The cell reception is okay at best almost all my other phones have had better reception. the phone will dial 911 almost all the time even with key guard on its happened at least 3 times and can remember seeing over 10 tried calls that had 911 in it . the processor in this phone is about as shitty as they come it’s like running vista on a computer made for windows 95 when it works it’s a terrible program and its so slow . Last week I had it with the phone it would go to a black screen half the time I opened the key pad so I would have to shut off the phone and turn it back on. The last day I shut it off over 10 times that day and once 5 times in 10 mins. When I took it to bell they told me it would be almost 150 to send the phone back and get it fixed I said no and bought a new Samsung gravity touch. it is 100% better its fast the Bluetooth works it can text and play music without freezing well worth the 200 extra I had to pay now I can get on with my life and use my phone not get angry while its messing up just when its needed most . If you’re offered this phone by anyone say no and I don’t care if you don’t have that much money buy a gravity touch instead you be happier with your lifebad

Pros: durable, decent battery life if battery is cared for right (when to charge it, etc.) calls are okay, fun photo settings

Cons: it freezes, sends duplicate messages, the keyboard sucks cuz it goes down and there's an awkward lip, and the keys have no bump to distinguish them, and sometimes when you try to send a messages, the person will receive it as a bunch of gibberish numbers and letters.

Would i recommend this phone? No. It's alright for a bit, but after about 5 months it becomes super frustrating. I brought mine in to get fixed twice, and I took really good care of it too. Now its broken again... I'm not gonna bother. I'll get a new phone.

-as many people have mentioned it groups common texts together
- Battery life next to none
-Tex-ting, once you get used to the keyboard (took me about a month) its okay.
-Durability, i dropped mine into a bucket of water works okay (has the same issues it had before)
-The OS system has many glitches
- Calling on mine was not to bad just couldn't hear the people on the other side.

this phone sucks! i have had it for about 7 months and i hate it! It's big, heavy, bulky and everything else you dont want in a phone! the worst part is that it can unlock it's self in you pocket and call anyone it wants, even 911!!! (happened twice and i got in some troubble)

This phone shuts off all the time the battery is crap the thing that turns breaks all the time I took this phone I'n sooo many times got fed up then just bought a new phone!! I'm telling you don't by this phone!!!

I've had this piece of junk for 2 years now, and have hated every minute of owning this phone. It took forever to get it connected to my PC since Bell doesn't tell you how to do it. There are next to no apps available for this phone, despite the sales staff telling me it was going to be a great phone, and Bell had plenty of apps comming soon for it! Yeah... right. Most of the features of this phone cost $$ to use - e-mail, messenger, TV/Radio, the list goes on and on.. I highly recommend against buying this phone, you will surely regret it!

i had this phone for 14 months, then i broke it :P it was my fault i broke it, i dropped it in the toilet. i loved this phone, it had great features and stuff. i loved it! it was extremely durable. i would drop it down the stairs (by accident) and throw it across my house when I'm mad and it wouldn't break. Some of the problems with it are... it would freeze on me sometimes.

I seriously don't mind this phone at all. Ive had it for about 7 months, and it seems to be alright. I got mad at it, and threw it at a wall, and its still working just fine :) the only things that really bother me about it, is the quality of the video camera, i get duplicates, and then i have to go through all the text messages just to find it, and its pretty slow on getting texts to. I also hate how when you receive a text, and you press the back button... it freezes on you for a good 2-5 minutes, and lastly, the keyboard. I barely even use the keyboard because its so hard to type on it, and the keys are just really hard to type with. But other than that, its a decent phone, and it manages to get me by, :)
