The Samsung Exhibit 4G packs a decent smartphone in a sleek and stylish candybar form factor. While it certainly does not have enough features to tackle the heavyweights, the Exhibit 4G stands out due to its ease of use and a moderately fast 1GHz processor. The easily distinguishable feature, however, is the smartphone's price. At just $79 on-contract, the Exhibit 4G is an attractive choice for potential smartphone buyers.
The 3.5-inch touchscreen up front serves decent resolution but suffers from horribly narrow viewing angles. The Exhibit is surrounded by a rubbery-soft material that lends it a somewhat cheap but extremely comfortable grip. Available in just two colors (black and violet), the Exhibit is no fashion accessory. Don't expect any eyes to follow this phone down the sidewalk.
Hardware aside, the Exhibit uses Samsung's TouchWiz interface built upon Android 2.3 Gingerbread. In addition to the default Android keyboard, Samsung has also included the famous Swype input method. However, it fails to impress on the Exhibit's rather small screen. The Exhibit 4G also features dual cameras - a VGA one up front and a 3.2-megapixel one at the rear. Picture quality is pretty average - not exceptional, not particularly horrible.
A 4GB microSD comes in the Exhibit's box and its capacity can be boosted up to 32GB. As it runs Gingerbread, the Exhibit can run almost any app from the Android Market. It ships with a variety of third-party apps pre-installed and provides solutions for Facebook, Email, Twitter, Flickr, Google Talk, mySpace and Kodak Photo out of the box. Connectivity options are also plentiful and include Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth and microUSB.
Overall, the Samsung Exhibit 4G is an excellent option for those who do not want to spend extra cash to get the beefiest smartphone and are okay with a few compromises. If you go ahead and buy the smartphone while keeping in mind that it is no Galaxy S II or iPhone 4, you'll be much more impressed.

What the Critics Are Saying...
- Eric M. Zeman, Phone ScoopThe Samsung Galaxy Exhibit is a fine little phone, though it isn't without a few faults. The hardware is mostly pleasant, and it gets the job done in an almost-stylish package. I wish the screen were bigger, but part of keeping the Exhibit's price low is the smaller display. The Exhibit's radio perf...
- GSMArena Team, GSMArenaThe device was up for all the tasks we threw at it and, while not being a benchmark monster, we are quite confident it won’t disappoint you either.
- Mike Perlman, TechnoBuffaloIn the end, the Samsung Exhibit 4G exhibited a solid performance overall. Its speed, courtesy of the 1GHz Hummingbird processor, was hasty enough to pull me through the day, even though it lacked the supersonic punch of a dual-core. I was a fan of the Exhibit 4G’s bright AMOLED screen, and the...
- Chris Burns, Android CommunityThe mid-range is rising! It’s not necessarily the greatest place to be, certainly a stepping stone for most people into the world of NICE Android devices, but perhaps a necessary transition point indeed. The Samsung Exhibit 4G is the nicest device of the three Samsung handsets we’ve seen...
- Lisa Gade, Mobile Tech ReviewIf you're on a budget and want an Android phone with solid features, the Samsung Exhibit 4G is an excellent choice. With 4G, a high resolution display and good CPU power, the Exhibit can handle most tasks well. It lacks the flashier display technology found on higher end phones, and you're giving up...
