Though many of today’s newer models enable users to do more than simply call and text on the go, this particular AT&T clamshell is designed to offer the basics. To that end, it does away with many extra features and comes with only the most important ones.

The Samsung A157 supports quad-band GSM and dual-band UMTS networks, as well as GPRS and EDGE data for mobile connections. Its 256MB of onboard RAM should be more than enough to store a typical user’s contacts list and text messages, and its 800mAh battery should last just long enough to get through a full day of moderate usage.

It also has a short list of the typical, yet handy, productivity apps such as calendar, notepad, calculator, world clock, currency converter, and even voice recorder. Users can also download and install compatible BREW apps for extra functionality.

It’s a basic phone for suitable for those with basic needs.
