One of the biggest selling points of the Moment is its speedy 800MHz processor, and in general, it delivers on the promise of a faster, more pleasant Android experience.

Voice quality was excellent on the Samsung Moment. Callers had no complaints about us, saying that we sounded crystal clear. On our end the sound was great as well; callers sounded life-like, volume was good and even at the highest levels there was no distortion. The 1440mAh battery is rated for 5 hours of talk time, a 25% improvement over the Hero’s 4 hour rating. Surprisingly the 800MHz processor didn’t seem much snappier than the 528MHz one running other Android devices. There was still some slight lag in menus and when opening apps. We’re starting to think Android is to blame here, though 2.0 addresses some of these issues.
In the end the Moment left us wanting more. On paper it is a beast: 800MHz processor, AMOLED display, full QWERTY keyboard. In the flesh it doesn’t live up to the hype though, largely because of the poor keyboard. The stock build of Android doesn’t help either; where the Hero is fun to use the Moment is too plain. Android is really starting to gain traction and take off, but the Moment seems so last year.

The Samsung Moment is one of the largest phones I've seen from Samsung. It is a brick in every sense of the word -- big, blocky and heavy. Whether you put it in your jeans, coat pocket or anywhere, you're going to know it is there. Though it is big, it feels solid as heck. We're talking tank. The hardware comes across as well engineered and well manufactured.
The Samsung Moment feels like it is Samsung's first Android phone. Samsung took the stock Android operating system and matched it with a form factor that Samsung knows is popular with messaging fanatics -- and then didn't do anything else with it.
The hardware performs well enough. With the exception of the GPS radio, everything on the phone worked as it is supposed to with minimal glitches. The controls are easy to use, the manufacturing is solid, and the keyboard provides excellent travel and feedback. On the downside, the Moment is large and heavy.

In the world of Android, it's not yet clear who's going to come out victorious -- QWERTY sliders or their keyboardless brethren -- but does there really need to be a winner? We say there's room for just about everyone in this open-source party, and Sprint is starting to round out its Android offerings by introducing the keyboard-equipped Samsung Moment to saddle up alongside the HTC Hero that was released a few weeks ago. In the scheme of things, the platform is still extraordinarily young which means that virtually every new handset that's announced brings "firsts" to the table; in the Moment's case, it's both the first Android device with an 800MHz ARM11 core and the first Android QWERTY phone with an AMOLED display (you'd have to go back to another Sammy, the Galaxy, to find the first AMOLED Android phone regardless of input method).
Being able to stuff Android, AMOLED, QWERTY, and 800MHz all into one sentence certainly sounds like a winning combination, but does the Moment deliver? Let's find out.

I love this phone because it is intuitive and comes with all the bells and whistles. It was like a snap to set up, in less than 5 minutes, following the on screen bouncing ball I set up the phone, downloaded all my Google contacts, connected to my gmail account and was receiving email. Being something of a techno nerd, by necessity, this was a real pleasure to set up. This is the wife's phone and she loves it, and she is no techno nerd.
After the all the Hero talk for the HTC android, I decided to get this phone due to it having a Flash on the camera, faster processor and a hardware keyboard. After the all the Hero talk for the HTC android, I decided to get this phone due to it having a Flash on the camera, faster processor and a hardware keyboard. I love this phone besided the fact that it doesnt connect to my damn PC! i cant find any drivers and it doesnt come with any. Sprint tech support says turn in the phone and get a new one but im not sure if that will work. Other then that...google apps, touch screen, and the fact that this camera has a bright ass flash that can take decent pics at night makes this a good investment. I dont know WTF is up with Samsung phones not connecting to pc's though. Ive been on quite a few sites where people say their samsung phone wont sync with their pc...WTF is going on samsung?
