Samsung Gravity / Reviews

All told, I really like Samsung's offering in the Gravity, returning to a familiar form of cell phones and packing in new features that mobile users crave, including a full QWERTY keypad and support for e-mail.

I wish it had a 3.5mm headphone jack and threaded SMS support, though. I would also redesign the numeric keypad a bit to make the individual keys easier to distinguish.

I would highly recommend the Samsung Gravity to anyone seeking a phone in this price category and looking for solid messaging features. The size is great, it feels light, and it looks great in either the lime color that I reviewed or the other available color, aqua.

It's good for texting, but it brakes a lot for me. So I would recommend you to ask the store to get a new one for this or it might brake if you have a old one that is on display and people keeps playing with it..

This phone has been great. My battery life is more than 2 days and I use it often. I have dropped it several times and it has been okay. I bought a $2 case that clips on it and I guess it has helped.

The only problem I have had is that sometimes someone calls and the name of the person calling is not the number that is calling, so I will think it is my husband when it is actually my brother's number (and it is my brother who is calling).

Right from the start, this phone has made calls with no input from me. When I took it back to the store, they told me I was imaging it. They had never had a complaint of this nature..... When the calls continued then I was told that it was a problem with the Sim card, so I got a new card and the phantom calls continue. If it wasn't so new, I'd just just junk it. I would never recommend this phone to anyone.

Hey, I've had this phone for about a year and a half, and I really liked it.
It had bad battery life, but that did not really bother me.
However, after dropping it maybe twice, and not from a very far distance, this brick of a phone is now completely messed up. It constantly turns on and off, like almost every 10 minutes. And there is nothing I can do to fix it. I thought maybe it was the battery, so I replaced it, but something much more serious is wrong.
It has come to the point were it will try to turn on, fail and then continue trying, however, it never turns on!!
please don't buy this phone, from what I have read and heard, this is a common problem, and it will drive you crazy. Get a decent phone.

I am surprised no one has mentioned phone won't accept Google Maps app. Tells me app excedes jar capacity. Also, will not play videos on my mem card recorded on my previous phone, but will display stills. Shows bkmkd Youtube videos as blocked. So I'm returning the phone, very regretfully, as it is basically useless to me. Otherwise, phone performance exellent, feels like solid quality unit. Couldn't care less about looks. Just want it to do what I want it to do and the T456 doesn't.

The samsung gravity is a great phone. It comes with everything you really need(charger,headset,etc...). I really love the keyboard. I find it more comfortable than most other messaging phones. I have had this phone for almost 2 years and the battery length is the same as it was when i got it. I charge it for one night and it sometimes lasts me 2days. It is also very durable. I have dropped it a million times and it still works perfectly. This is a really great phone.

great phone!!! i've only had it for about 2 days, and its great, its works awsome for whatever i need it for, it have great sound for wen u'r on the phone talking to somone. i recomend it, the keyboard is nice and big, and its very easy to use!!! love it

So I've had the Gravity for about a year now and I mostly love it.

I'm 13, and I mostly use the phone for texting, which it's awesome for! And the callings great too. But the camera is quite crappy and doesn't take the best pictures. Its quite durable, I know, I drop it A LOT, but I dropped it once on concrete and it got a crack in the screen. Its appearance isn't the most attractive but I LOVE the keyboard. The phone's games are okay. Overall I quite enjoy this phone and it's definitely texter's phone.

This phone is great so far. I've had it for five days. It seems like a good entry-level phone (and at $0 from Fido, the price was right).

Pros:
-Texting is great; the keyboard is easy to use and comfortable
-Can hold a huge amount of contacts (1000) and a fair number of messages (200 total)
-Many shortcut buttons on the phone
-Battery life is quite good; lasted four full days (turned off for 8 hours at night), with a substantial amount of texting

Cons:
-As has been said, battery indicator isn't even between the five bars
-Keyboard doesn't automatically lock when sliding the phone shut
-Pretty large phone; however, not too heavy
-Speed dial texting? (See comments)

Comments:
-Some people have said that "alt lock" is annoying - meaning that when you push Alt to get the buttons to function as symbols, they continue to act as symbols until you push Alt again. While it takes a while to get used to (con), I have found it an asset, as it means i can push the navigation arrows/add punctuation marks/type numbers many times in a row without having to push Alt each time.

-The keypad doesn't automatically lock when you close the slider - it takes between 5 and 10 seconds to autolock when you have it inactive and in the "closed" position. Again, this doesn't really bother me.

-People have complained about the lack of shortcuts; the phone has four customizable shortcut buttons. It is a legitimate complaint that the options of what to set are limited, but there are enough other shortcut buttons on the phone (there's a camera button, one that takes you to your call history, one that takes you to your messages, and you can adjust the ringer volume by the volume buttons on the side - also, these buttons allow you to turn the entire phone to vibrate) that I'm quite happy.

-I haven't yet discovered a way to text the people in the speed dial list. This may just be my stupidity - however, when I push the number 2 and select the "send message" option, the phone tries to literally send the message to the phone number 2, as opposed to the person I have in my speed dial as 2. Again, this could just be me not reading the manual.

Overall, I recommend this phone to anyone looking to text and is fed up with T9. My call quality is also quite good, and I have yet to find a more comfortable keyboard. Definitely a great choice for Fido users, who have a very limited phone selection.

Phone is big disappointment it is not compatible with Ford SYNC, no support from Rogers or Samsung either.
