Big Fingers - Not the Phone for You!

6

6/10

I've had the LG Vu phone a little over a year. When I first got it, like any new phone, you're giddy and excited about the new features, great look & practicality. But once I get settled in, I realized that it's not all it's cracked out to be.

Pros:

-- Looks good - similar (give or take) to an iPhone.

-- Light and durable - can keep it in your pocket no problem.

-- Music Player is good - can import music easily from computer.

-- Can use the USB to import pictures from your computer & it charges at the same time - time saver!

Cons:

-- This phone isn't user friendly if you have big fingers or if you're a female with small, danty fingers but without fingernails. The texting is nearly impossible in this case, in QWERTY mode or main screen as it is all touch. Although you can have it vibrate after each touch, you have to be extremely accurate or else another letter will have been put in, sometimes not even close to the one you pushed.

-- If you're in the middle of typing a message, sometimes it skips back to the beginning of the message, thus you're typing the end of the message at the beginning. And the backspace key doesn't allow "fast erasing" when hitting several times to backspace a few letters - it deletes your entire message. There is not an undo button either.

-- The battery is ridiculous. Like all cell phones, the purpose of a phone is to primarily make calls. If the phone only allows 7 minutes of calling time before "Low Battery" appears, then clearly there is a problem. Same goes for a text message or any application. Sending 20+ texts, the phone dies. Good luck trying to use the Internet. You get settled into your application, phone shuts off.

-- When making a call, you have JUST enough time to type the number in and the keyboard automatically locks. Good luck if you want to try phone banking or movie requests (could easily be done over the Internet, but as I said above, it's an application - ie. dead phone!). You have to constantly unlock the phone to enter in another number, but in record speed before the keyboard locks again.

Maybe because I've had the phone for over a year, these are some of the drawbacks I'm just noticing, as batteries are not invincible and do overtime drain out, however being a year old, you'd think that your phone company would do something for you. Not in this case.

Always read reviews BEFORE you make any purchases..
I'm considering a new phone (the battery dying is the killjoy - I've learned to deal with the other issues) and this website has helped a great deal.

Hope I've helped you!
