HTC Magic on Rogers - wait and see
9/10
The HTC Magic is a great Android phone, and I am loving it. Easy to use, with a sleek design, it is responsive, has a great screen, and I feel good using it. The phone itself I rank 8/10 because it lacks a 3.5mm headset jack, and because Android itself has some quirks that need to be worked out.
If you are thinking of buying this phone with Rogers in Canada, beware! As of 12/11/2009 Rogers still has not updated the OS on our phones from 1.5 to 1.6. This update has been out since the beginning of October, and many users around the world, including the US, already have it. Not having this update means losing out on some functionality, and not being able to use apps designed to work only with ver 1.6 and above.
So far Rogers has been unwilling to say whether or not they will update our phones to 1.6, so you may want to wait until there is official confirmation on their web site that 1.6 is available for Rogers Android phones. Don't trust what the customer service reps tell you, or the sales reps in the stores, as we have been talking to reps in the office of the president of Rogers, and we are getting conflicting information.
