AKA: Nokia 6265

It's a phone, and not much more

Telus no longer offers this phone; this review is primarily intended for someone looking at a used unit. I would recommend elsewhere only because the reliability reported by most users seems to significantly decrease with age.

Ownership Period:
- almost three years.

Pros:
- Compact design.
- Slider style to hide / protect keys.
- Easy-to-use menu system.
- Relatively reliable in early years.

Cons:
- Same "cannot-turn-on issue" everyone else reports.
- (But mine lasted almost three years before it happened.)
- Speakerphone wore itself out (with distortion) after two years.
- Camera is two meagpixels - but not worth much in daylight or night.
- Must slide the phone to see the time.

Telus indicated the repair cost would be close to $100 (to do a simple Telus software reset, which fixes the "cannot-turn-on" issue everyone is reporting in reviews). Three Vancouver cell phone repairs places report that this issue is common for this model of phone and typically strikes within a year or two of use. In Vancouver / Richmond, you can find places that will fix this for about $40.

It was a decent, reliable phone during the first 2.5 years. Given the likelihood of the unit failing again soon after the first time it has an issue, I recommend prospective owners of used units to look elsewhere first.
