All in all the Nokia Lumia 710 is an extremely competent smartphone. It looks good, has some very competitive hardware and comes packed with plenty of useful features and applications like Nokia Music, Drive and Maps. It’s also very well priced at £300, and while we’d definitely recommend the Lumia 800 over it, you will have to pay extra for the difference, which is predominantly cosmetic anyway. Windows Phone 7 is Windows Phone 7 whether its on a £800 phone or a £300 one. Overall, we seriously rate the Nokia Lumia 710. If you’re looking for a Windows Phone 7 handset but don’t want to pay premium prices this could very well be the phone you’re looking for.

In terms of pricing, the Lumia 710 is priced at RM999, while the Lumia 800 is priced at RM1650. It is obvious that the Lumia 710 would be an economical choice over the Lumia 800. Plus, the Lumia 710 also offers the same simplistic OS (Microsoft Window Phone 7.5 Mango) and it comes with decent specs as well.

The Nokia Lumia 710 is a solid, if a bit basic, smartphone. The Windows Phone 7.5 OS and its Metro UI are definitely a matter of taste -- I can recognize that plenty do not love them like I do -- but if you're a fan of it, the this smartphones is a great way to get the full, most up-to-date experience with the platform.

And in terms of value, it's tough to beat: it's a 4G smartphone (granted, on T-Mobile's sub-par network) that you can now get for as cheap as $40 with a mail-in rebate and a new two-year contract with T-Mobile.

Its specs are a little weak, what with the single-core processor, its meager and non-expandable 8 GB of onboard memory, and 512 MB of RAM. However, for entry-level users who don't need a powerhouse phone but want to jump on the 4G bandwagon, the Nokia Lumia 710 is a good option for a reasonable price.

Priced at $49.99 on a 3-year term, and $254.99 on a month-to-month plan, the Lumia 710 is a bargain, especially for those unwilling to re-sign a contract. Though its screen and camera are no match for the more-expensive (and coming soon) Lumia 800, this is a fantastic entry-level smartphone and one of the best examples of “the whole package” over individual components. Only when taking photos did I feel like I was missing out on the full smartphone experience, and even then the 5MP camera will suffice for most casual users.

What Nokia has been able to offer is Windows Phone for the masses, and as such a powerful and capable smartphone for less than half the outright price of most equivalent Androids or iPhones. And, like all Windows Phones, it will more than likely receive major updates at the same time as its more expensive peers, something that, again, cannot be claimed by even the top-range Android smartphones.

The Lumia 710 has a beautiful and fluid UI. Its specs are better than those of competing Androids. The phone excels in the music playback and camera departments. What's more, Nokia Drive gives it an edge over the competition. On the other hand, despite the handset's great performance, its average display is a letdown. The 710 would have been a killer gadget had Nokia shipped it with an AMOLED screen. Overall though, at the price tag of Rs 15,500, it's still better than most Androids.

File Windows Phone, in its current state, under: Great first impressions and shows great promise. Indeed, bargain hunters may be tempted to grab a Lumia 710 as a second phone, but there’s a long way to go. Some of the improvements, particularly for power consumption, need to be made urgently, and may deter the undecided. But if you're tempted, at least you can slot in another battery, which is its saving grace in this area.

With the Lumia 710 retaining most of the high-end specifications of the more expensive Lumia 800 despite the cheaper price tag, it is a very attractive proposition. Performance is very smooth and the seamless interaction with business apps such as Outlook and Office cannot be underestimated.

The only real differentiating features between this handset and the Lumia 800 are the camera, internal memory and design. The Lumia 800 is perhaps the more attractive of the two, but the fact that the 710 has a swappable battery is likely to give it longevity.

Nokia's first Windows Phone for the United States was really designed to be a budget smartphone. Many may be disappointed that it doesn't bring anything ground-breaking like the 12 megapixel camera from the Nokia N8 or even the polycarbonate body of the N9. Still you're looking at a device that packs a lot of great features into a sturdy, attractive, fast, and stable smartphone. If you're in the market for a Lumia 710, hopefully you don't care about a front-facing camera, Wi-Fi tethering, or a huge screen. Really you should buy this device for the inexpensive price tag, feature-rich people-centric operating system, and maybe even the interchangeable colors that you'll be able to get soon.

The Lumia 710 isn't as nice as the 800 but then we know that it isn't supposed to be. This is about making Windows Phone 7 affordable, and on that front the 710 is perfectly pitched.

With the Lumia 800 around the £35 price point on contract, we suspect that you'll be able to get the Lumia 710 for around £15 - £20 a month with the handset "free". That's a good price in anyone's books.

The Lumia 710 is perfect at showing that you don't need to have powerful expensive specs to still get a phone that is enjoyable to use day-in, day-out. It might not be as durable as the metal clad HTC Radar, but you won't be disappointed.

The Nokia Lumia 710 has to share what's left of the spotlight with its Lumia 800 sibling - the one with the fancy unibody and AMOLED screen. Looks aside though, the two aren't that different and the 710 does come cheaper.

The screen could have been better - in terms of viewing angles in particular - but it stacks up very well against mid-range competition. The camera was also pretty good, especially the HD video recording.

And we didn't spend too much time crying over the non-unibody design, easy access to the battery makes up for that (and you get the added bonus of being able to spruce things up with a colorful new back cover).

The Nokia Lumia 710 has certain limitations: storage is non-expandable, and 8GB isn't spectacular to begin with. USB and Bluetooth usability is limited too, but those are par for the Windows Phone course. And only two other devices come with free voice-guided navigation, both of which are Nokia made.

I've had my phone for 4 months

Pros:
- $0 on wind tab for 2 years (budget friendly smart phone)
- a "decent" amount of apps I suppose....not great though
- relatively easy to understand & use once you get used to it
- decent size & fit
- decent storage space
- good fb app
- makes for a good flashlight w/ free app

Cons:
- ugly cheap looking
- Camera SUCKS! 5mp my a**! (only saving grace is that you can edit it w/ some free photo editing apps)
- I don't like how you have to scroll down as opposed to left & right for the various icons
- no folders to place icons in them
- only 3 levels of brightness adjustment (i still find it too bright)
- horrible sound quality (so much static); especially bad when you use head phones....don't even think of using it as a music playing device
- can only turn on/ off the phone w/ the hold button (feels like it would break easily)
- extremely hard to remove the back cover
- no front facing camera
- not so great alarm clock (you'll understand if you ever decide to get the phone)
- TERRIBLE calendar....with its TINY writing (never use it)
- not so great charger
- short battery life
- it has already turned off on me a few times....and I had to take out the battery & put it back in for it to work again. I'm pretty sure this is not good for my phone in the long haul...but hey...at least it still works.
