I can not take the phone anywhere alone without a CHARGER. You guys can understand about the Battery "power".

After having this phone for the past year or so, I will never buy a Nextel phone again. The phone doesn't hold a charge, and will hardly charge up even after buying ~5 different chargers and several batteries. The phone barely works in my apartment (and only right next to the window with the window open), and not at all where I work or attend classes. I have heard countless complaints from people who have tried to call me and they receive a message the phone is not in service and/or the service has been discontinued. When it does work, it will occasionally turn itself on and off repeatedly and changes from ring to vibrate mode by itself.

Ive had this phone for 6 months and never dropped it or got it wet, After 6 months it just stopped chargin, and nextel in general is just a bad carrier, the only good thing about nextel is free incoming calls,and even thats too expensive and thats it, service reps are friendly but im sorry i dont speak spanish so its hard to understand them. , i had 2 extend my contract for 2 more years just to buy another phone, the i205 that came with the service for free is 100 times better than this 250$ phone.just spend a little more money and get a better phone, or spend less money and youll still get a better phone than this piece of crap. Not only that but the ppl in the stores are lazy as hell. Id love a job where i sit down all day, but these ppl look like theyve been liftin stuff all day and they act like its too much to help you out. serive sux, phones suck, ppl that work there suck. its just a bad company

We have close to a dozen of these phones for my company. This phone is durable and I like the color of it. But that's about the only positive thing that I can say about it. The battery life is not the greatest and the service from Nextel is awful. Calls are constantly dropped. If the service from Nextel was better I'd be somewhat satisfied with the phone but with calls that are constantly dropped it doesn't matter how durable this phone is. So what if I can throw the phone against the wall or drive over it with my car and the phone still functions. If every other call is dropped the phone is of little use.

I have had three of these during my two year contract, I am trying to baby the last one enough until the end of the two years. Each has had the problem of powering down and re-booting without warning. The are billed as "Mil-spec" this or that, but unless you keep it inside a purse, get ready for many trips to the Sprint store. Motorola used to be THE name in communications, but after this and my friend's problems with the Razr's, I'm headed to Nokia.

I'm actually a boost mobile user. I broke the boost phone and so I decided to spend the $250.00 on this phone at retail price. The phone is basic, but is hard as a rock. This phone has been through more abuse and still keeps on a rockin. My T-Mobile phone looks like a toy compared to the I 530. My freinds have other nextel phones and they keep having problems with there's a few days of having them. While I have had my phone for over a year !!!. This phone has seen doors, water puddles, scraped and other abuse, but like again, keeps on working. Basic phone for two way talking and cell phone use. Use the stock ringtones, but you can download more.

I LOVE THIS PHONE, the battery lasts for two days, don't know why other people's battery's have short life or have other problems.

I truck for a living.. long distance, coast-to-coast. I've been using mobile phones (PTT)since 1980, and graduated to cell phones in 1983, when my first one cost $2500.00.(You read that right, youngsters..twenty-five hundred dollars for the phone and a dollar a minute for the airtime, PLUS roaming charges!)

Have had the i530 for 2+ years now. It has been used and abused like no other cell phone I've had (and this is cell phone number 8). It has been dropped numerous times, bounced around almost as many times, rained on, thrown, kicked and otherwise abused, and still keeps on ticking. Our company of 15 owner-operators all purchased this phone, set up a talkgroup with our dispatch, and we beep-a-da-beep all day long.

Pros: Very rugged, excellent Telus(Nextel) coverage.
Cons: Menu system takes some getting used to, tinny sounding speaker on higher volume.

Summary: This radio doesn't have all the bells & whistles of the newer radios, but for what it does, it's an excellent unit. As for battery life, mine usually sits on the dashboard plugged into the cigarette lighter most of the day, so its usually charged. On days when I don't plug it in, it will give me 1 1/2 to 2 days of talk before requiring recharging. When new, it would run 3 days on a full charge. I bought a new battery for it when I bought the phone, and have yet to take it out of the package.

At the price of these phones now(usually free with the right plan) you won't go wrong with one of these as a workhorse day-to-day phone.

MY HUSBAND BOUGHT THE NEXTEL I530 A YEAR AGO. WHEN WE LIVED IN PHILADELPHIA, HE GOT GOOD RECEPTION, ETC. NOW HIS PHONE SHUTS OFF WHEN HE TALKING TO SOMEONE, NO ONE CAN REACH HIM BECAUSE A MESSAGE COMES ON SAYING "PLEASE HOLD WHILE WE TRY TO CONTACT THIS NEXTEL SUBSCRIBER." HE DOESN'T GET RECEPTION IN CHALFONT, PLYMOUTH MEETING, AND SOME AREA OF PHILADELPHIA. MY HUSBAND TOOK IT TO CUSTOMER SERVICE FOR THE 4TH TIME NOW AND THE GUY TOLD HIM ALOT OF PEOPLE HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS PHONE. MOTOROLA STOPPED MAKING IT. HE HAS ALSO LOST ALOT OF BUSINESS WITH THIS PHONE BECAUSE NO ONE CAN GET THROUGH. HIM AND I BOTH GOT NEW UPGRADED PHONES AND WE LOVE THEM. JUST SO YOU KNOW, I530 STINKS!!!!!!
