Most would agree, the LG Optimus L7 is a thing of beauty. It belongs to LG’s line of highly stylish and slightly sophisticated handsets that have Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich pre-installed as the operating system. Based on looks alone, it’s bound to get high grades. However, once you pick it up and use it, you’re excitement is bound to fade.
The spec sheet lists the following features: 4.3-inch 480x800 pixel resolution screen, 5-megapixel camera with LED flash, 4GB of internal storage, Bluetooth 3.0 with A2DP, 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi, and microSD card support. Its overall feature-set is not that bad for a mid-range Android device. For some reason, though, things just don’t seem to blend well during actual usage, especially if you’re a power-user who aims to multitask with the phone like there’s no tomorrow.
Fitted with 1GB of RAM and a 1GHz processor, the LG Optimus L7 becomes agonizingly slow to use at times. It struggles with HD video playback and hardly lasts for 4 hours of movie watching on a charge. It seems that the overlying UI used by LG is bogging down the handset so much that it becomes a pain in the rump to use.
Still, at just 8mm thin, the LG Optimus L7 might be good for those who are looking for a smartphone that’s as fashionable as it is pocketable.

- Andrew Unsworth, Expert ReviewsThe LG Optimus L7 isn’t technically brilliant, but it has a large touchscreen and smoothly animated menus. It’s great if you just want a large smartphone for web browsing and listening to music, but not if you want to watch videos on your phone.
- Jonathan Cheah, Mobile88The LG Optimus L7 is a pretty good device – for last year. Much of the specifications are last year’s and it made me wonder if LG was simply trying to clear their stock of components. The large screen and HSDPA data support would make this a good browsing device, plus the long battery lifespan would...
- Niall Magennis , TrustedReviewsThe LG Optimus L7 has a stylish design and some good features including NFC support and a large 4.3inch screen. However, its 1Ghz processor seems to be overwhelmed by what LG is asking it to do on this handset and the result is that the phone can be quite tedious to use, as it suffers from lots of r...
- Leigh Geary , CoolsmartphoneThis should be a very good phone. I loved the style and the quality of the screen. The camera held up well too, even if it is “just a 5 megapixel”, but the lack of an auto-brightness feature, low-res video recording and a slightly under-powered and slow browsing experience left us wanting somewhat....
