Even though the sound through a pair of decent headphones is good indeed, the in-call quality is simply appalling. Everything is loud enough on our end, but there is annoying crackling with the volume going at full blast, meaning you would have to the decrease it with at least two steps. Even then, the quality is mediocre at best. Things are rather worse on the other end of the line, voices are so quiet and unreal, that you can easily confuse the caller with somebody else.

In moderate usage scenarios with a lot of navigating around various menus and screen brightness set to maximum, the battery of the LG GW300 (900mAh) gets flat relatively fast - in about two days, which is not enough for a phone like this really. What a shame.

The LG GW300 can by no means replace your smartphone, but is a great device for anyone who prefers texting to talking and likes to have access to Facebook anytime. We are also impressed at the music playback performance of the device. Unfortunately, these are pretty much all the advantages of the GW300. If you need a device with richer functionality, say better camera or larger screen, you will need to shell out more cash. The LG GW300 is just an affordable, likeable cell phone with decent QWERTY keyboard. Good alternatives are the Samsung CorbyTXT B3210, as well as the CorbyPRO B5310, which is equipped with a touchscreen and more features.

good for very basic use, works fine. only complaint is the text format, which is setup with an inbox and cannot acces one conversation well. i wish it was a string of messages similar to the iphone. camera is junk, calls are fine, other complaint is the notice you get about using a minute every time you read or send a text, definitely slows things down. can be costumized very easily. overall, ok phone and great for kids or as a starter phone

Great use for my money. The phone is bulky, really hard to fit in your pocket, but I like how big the screen is. I was able to sell an audio message with my voice on it, though it cost a little extra (25 cents for me). The speaker is not clear, and I found it really hard to put music on it. You need to buy a usb cable which comes separately to add your music, unless you download them from the internet. I had to convert it, because it only takes music that is 64-bit (I think that was the format, but i'm not completely sure) . The FM Radio looks good, but it continuously keeps shutting off, especially when the phone is charging. The radio can scan, but if you do that, you'll delete all of the preset stations and have to reset them. The text messaging is not threaded, just regular type. It looks kind of like your writing in a composition notebook, because it has lines all over the texting screen. The keys are close together; its find as long as you can get use to it. My phone was black, and gray on the back with a camera.

Let me stress this. Camera was clearer than I thought it would be, but you cannot put more than a couple of photos on it because its memory is low (only 15 mb). You can change the size of the photos, but you need to add extra memory if you want to actually more than a few photos on your phone. Zoom was fine, just takes a lot of practice because it doesn't zoom in slowly, just all at one time. Internet is altered for the phone, but its not to drastically differnet.

Other than that, really good phone. Amazingly detailed calender alarms. Great for beginners. But nothing to brag about to your friends if your one of those people who have fun by texting, instead of talking face-to-face, even though they are right in front of you.

6 months in the battery only lasts a day and dies after about 11 hours with minimal use and while on silent. Maybe 1-2 calls with about 40 texts. Internet on this phone is useless, doesn't read full files for ringtones/alarms. Tiny memory capacity, 2-5 second delay when selecting icons and navigating phone.

All in all an absolute waste of time and money. If I wasn't stuck on a contract i would bail right away. DO NOT GET THIS PHONE. Not to mention it's ugly and a wannabe blackberry.

I don't know how they could release this phone into the modern market. It would be a bad model in 2003.

I got this phone a year and a half ago and it works pretty good. It's a basic cell phone with full keyboard which is what I wanted. It does ok with the internet browser, maybe a bit slower than other regular phones, but overall it's manageable when I want to check emails in a pinch. Lately, I've had issues with it turning off on it's own, but that doesn't happen too often. Another thing is that when you get to about 100 messages, you'll want to delete the inbox and sent items since it really slows down everything.
Overall, it's good. It's no smartphone, but if that's what I wanted I would have gotten a smartphone.

Poor service from FIDO. Long waits for a humanoid to answer. No instruction book with phone. FIDO treats pay as you go customers with contempt.

Everything I have tried, the phone, the screen settings, the MP3 player, FM radio, video camera, camera and QWERTY keyboard are SO easy to use - much better than the Blackberry I traded in.

I see nothing to complain about! This is one excellent phone!

I absolutely love this phone. I got this phone from straight talk about 2 months ago and I can't find one thing to complain about. The phone works great, I love the keyboard, the media player, the camera, and so on. I had a blackberry before and I didnt like it so much because the price was horrible and the battery life was awful! Everyone on here seems to have a complaint about this phone, but I don't. Tough luck for the rest of you! I love my phone and a very small amount of consumer reviews is not going to change that. Yes, a few bugs but nothing major. Remember, this phone is paired with prepaid which means prepaid service. You are not going to get the top of the line with this phone, but it is a good price and does all the basic features that a texting phone should do. If you want more, pay more and get a different phone like a pda. All phones are based on preference. I never loaded my phone full of stuff because I knew that it wasnt made to do all of those extra functions. Im happy with the simplicity of this phone.

I've had this phone for almost a month, and so far I love it. For the price, it has a fair amount of features and the ones you'd expect are solid.

Obviously, it has a keyboard. The feel is nice, and personally I think the phone looks and feels nicer than Blackberries. Calls are quite clear. Usually, the menus work quickly. There are lots of features, but here are my favorites:
~ MP3 player with playlist feature, works well enough for its task
~ Decent quality camera, capable of video
~ Organizer including memos (notes to yourself) and a calendar
~ Decent browser (no wi-fi but you could work out an internet plan)
~ Surprisingly good speaker (compared it to iPhone and Blackberry, it was better)
~ You can use custom MP3's for ringtones/message tones (YESSSS)
~ Easy lock to avoid the inevitable butt dials of a phone with the keys on the front

On the downside, there are some times when navigation could be more efficient, and the phone responds a little more slowly when you have 100+ messages saved up. The threaded view, an option to see messages as a conversation, would be great, but it tends to miss some of the texts. None of these turn me off of the phone, but they do remind you of the low price you payed.

All in all, I'm really happy I got this phone. I should also mention that my friend has it, and despite her reckless handling of it hers seems to work alright. If you don't want to miss out on phone features because of your budget, get this phone. Some of my friends with more expensive phones are envious of it!

I had selected this phone when I lost my old phone (LG Rumour) as I was annoyed with my last phones functionability when dialing numbers, and this one had a full keyboard for texting which I had not tried before. At first it was a step up compared to my previous phone, but now after a year of using it there is a few annoying things I've started to notice with it.

- At times the phone will randomly turn off, not sure why this occurs as its not like the end call button is being held accidently or anything....
- When when viewing texts and the "thread" option is selected it may take awhile to load up i.e. 7-10 secs... which, to me seems like a long time when you are waiting

Overal I do use the phone more for texting then calling, and I dont send crazy amounts of texts, probrably around 500/month max. They keyboard is fine, I dont have a issue with it. I do find the ability to select between multiple menus helpful while leaving others open (i.e. browser, texts, contacts). The battery lasts for a reasonable amount of time that I use it for (I charge it approx once every 5days). Other features on the phone are pretty standard so I wont go into much detail on those.

Closing comments, My carrier is FIDO. Final issue that I have had with the phone is I believe related to the coverage, although I am within a 3G zone and all that, it has frequently dropped my calls (after some random screeching in the ear) and it may take a couple of seconds to "reconnect." This can be irritating but I'm not sure if it is the phone, or the coverage, or something else.

I'm sure that whoever posted reviews claiming that this phone was good is either a paid employee for Fido (or whatever carrier) or has never had the good fortune of having a good phone like Motorola. I used my Fido $$s to get this after my Motorola died and have regretted it since. I would never recommend this phone to anyone and hope they stop making it.
The phone came with no manual, so I assumed it was a mistake. Now I realize that's a norm (cheap skates). The phone was poorly made. There are spelling errors...for example when you send a text, the confirmation message your receive is "message has been arrived." You lock the keys, and it says "key locked" (singular). The word 'Accuracy' is spelled as "Accuacy." The ring tones are awful, and texting is average.
Don't get this phone.
