The enV 2 (aka Keybo or VX9100) doesn’t look at all like its prior incarnation. Its smaller, thinner (4” x 2.13” x .65”) and 30 percent lighter. Aside from the cosmetic changes however, the enV 2 is almost identical to the original.

Closed, the face looks a bit strange, with a small rectangular screen at the top which looks squeezed, and the remaining exterior dominated by the keypad. Between the screen and alphanumeric keypad is a dedicated music button, “send”, “end” and “clear” buttons and just above the middle an “okay” button flanked on top and bottom with arrow keys. The black exterior is trimmed in a snazzy faux chrome.

Interestingly, the small external screen does have the benefit of providing a much roomier keypad than its former edition, despite being an overall smaller phone.

The enV2 opens lengthwise to reveal a thoughtful full Qwerty keyboard with small but easy-to-use buttons and a good use of color to distinguish which keys perform additional functions. The internal display is flanked on either side with speakers which, if used in speakerphone mode, produces a surprisingly good quality sound for listening to music.

Other than the fairly dramatic physical makeover, the enV2 retains most of the features of its href="/cell-phones/lg-env/">predecessor the enV. You get a 2MP camera (with the external screen acting as a roomy view finder), Bluetooth, 1000 entry phone book with considerable customizable options, and internal 2.4 inch 240 x 320 pixel display, an MP3 player and video recorder.

Of course, the enV(2) includes all entry level features too, including speakerphone, alarm, calendar and voice recorder.

The enV 2 is an excellent choice for someone who wants very good call quality and enjoys texting, taking pictures and surfing the internet.

Where to begin? Apparently some folks liked the first enV-nothing wrong with that. Hideous, but comfortable to hold, the handset featured a spacious keyboard, and a slew of nifty features packed inside. The enV2 is apparently the end result of spilling coffee on a stack of consumer satisfaction surveys. It's a lighter, slimmer package, but a botched facelift leaves it with all the style of that TI-36 you ditched back in high school. Easy to dial, but with the half-inch tall screen on the front, the enV2 isn't really good for much else. Thankfully once you open it up there's the full QWERTY keyboard-not as wide at the original, but the keys are evenly spaced so it's still great for messaging. There's a 2 megapixel camera, but even if you have figured out how to comfortably hold an altoid-can-clamshell without blocking the much smaller lens with your fingers, pics and video turn out pretty grainy. Where to end? Do yourself a favor, if confronted with the choice of purchasing an enV2 think long and hard about it. After all, you're stuck with this device for two years.

WIRED Bluetooth. Vibrant interior screen. External microSD slot. Stereo speakers.

TIRED VZ Navigator (Pay me!), IMs as SMS (Pay me!), POP email (Pay me!) and the walled garden web "browser" (Pay me!) will jack up that monthly bill. No Wi-fi.

The first phone I've ever owned and I've had it for over two years now ... quite frankly, I've gotten sick and tired of it. PROS: the pink one looks nice, background for both screens can be customized, photos can be edited (to a limited extent), includes Bluetooth CONS: SD card is REQUIRED to transfer photos to/from your computer, ringtones cannot be customized unless you buy them from the Telus store yourself (and the default ones provided are terrible ... except for 14, maybe), glitches - should you ever encounter them - are usually permanent (i.e., drafts box is always full and attempting to delete them only results in Error 2), many of the built in functions are impractical because they cannot be accessed from the exterior screen, phone constantly turns off by itself. Overall, it's a nice phone if you're only going to use it for the most basic of functions, but otherwise don't bother. Do what I should've done and get an iPhone instead, LOL.

Cons: It looks ugly from the outside. The phone can turn on by itself or dial/call someone - that can be annoying. Finally, as of late, I have not been able to send/receive text messages.

This phone gets heavy use and abuse. Used for flicks, pics (when no better camera is available), bluetooth connectivity, web browsing, note taking, calls, music, text messages (big time), gets heated over engines, frozen in winters, tossed into nap sac pouches, sat on, etc, etc. Call quality is excellent, data connectivity superb, all buttons work still, and original battery goes for days between charges. The firmware was upgraded in the first months of use, and I've loaded many programs in this baby, including the latest supported version of Opera. Opera runs very well on this 3G CDMA phone. Maybe I got lucky, but my experience for this "dumb phone" has been excellent. My biggest complaint: The inbox depth for text messages is too shallow (50 messages). The outbox is over 1000.

I took it back and was told it would be at "least" $170 just to get it fixed. I figured it was cheaper to buy a new phone, so I bought the LG Keybo 2 (in black) and now it's just past the 1 year mark again and it randomly shuts off for no reason. I put it down lightly and it shuts off! I've had enough with the LG's! I'm calling my phone provider tomorrow to put in a complaint and am going to go with ANYTHING but a LG!

Had nothing but troubles. Won't send decent text messaging without turning off. Can't send pictures to anyone or email. Turns off for no apparent reason.

I've had this phone for almost a year now, and I don't like it at all. At first I was happy with it because I dropped it in the bathtub yet it still worked after. But then my memory card slot wouldn't work, so I couldn't save that many pictures/ music files. The usb port won't let me drag music to my phone. It glitches a LOT! I can't save drafts when I'm texting because for some reason my drafts inbox is always full and when I try to open one it says "Error 2".. I can't use the front keypad, only a few numbers work. It splits really long text messages into like 20 parts. I drop my phone a lot, and the edges are really beat up and sratch easily. If your like me do not get this phone.

I doesn't last very long i've had it for a year and 9 months, give or take.. & its already broken.. if you drop it, and are clumsy with it the hinge to open and close it will break off like mine did.. The front screen started to mess up, at first it was scratched on the inside but now its completely black and wont show anything... the whole front keypad doesnt work.. and just today it broke even more. The phone turns on but BOTH screens are black so you cant see a thing. Not worth your money at all! Blackberry here i come!

I have had this phone since may and have had it replaced 3 times. and sent in 2 times. It will freeze, shut off, drop calls in VERY GOOD service areas, and delete messages as you read them as they come into your inbox. I advice you do not buy this phone.
