A mid-year refresh of the One X, the HTC One X+ is a handsome, capable device and another testament to HTC’s knack for industrial design.
It went through some minor aesthetic changes but the main improvements lie in updated specifications including a more powerful processor, a bigger battery, and much larger storage capacity.
Overall, the X+ kept everything good about the original and then improved on some of its weaknesses. Reviewers call it the "HTC One X...and more".
One of this phone's main selling points is the updated Tegra 3 processor which now runs at a faster 1.7 GHz compared to the old 1.5 GHz. Although powerful, it doesn’t bring enough to the table to attract people who already own a Tegra 3 device, much less the HTC One X. As Jamie Condliffe of Gizmodo said, it's “Basically the Same Awesome Phone”.
If you already own an HTC One X, there's nothing really groundbreaking that would warrant an upgrade. If you're a new smartphone buyer, this is definitely a solid product and very much worthy of your consideration. Just keep in mind its predecessor is nearly as capable, but at a cheaper price.
The Good: More storage, power and battery than its predecessor, the HTC One.
The Bad: A paltry 1GB of RAM, non-removable battery and no memory expansion.
What the Critics Are Saying...
- Nick Gray, HTC SourceOur time with the HTC One X+ was limited to a mere three weeks, but that was more than enough time to convince us that it’s one of the best Android phones currently on the market. The phone comes equipped with enough storage for the biggest media junkies around and the performance of the Nvidi...
- Brooks Barnard, DroidDogThe HTC One X+ is a fantastic device. The display is beautiful. The design is beautiful. HTC’s widgets are beautiful. Outside of gaming, the device doesn’t lag. If you’re looking for a device that does what it’s told, this device will obey and will do it quickly. If you’re a gamer and don’t plan to...
- Niall Magennis, TrustedReviewsThe HTC One X+ really is a top class high-end Android phone. It looks great, has bags of power and is rammed full of useful tweaks and features. If you're looking for a strong alternative to the Galaxy S3, then the One X+ is the phone to go for.
- Jeffrey Van Camp, Digital TrendsThe One X+ is just about the best phone on AT&T right now. When it comes to specs, it outshines the competition, and in almost every way, it’s the best value you can get for your $200 (with a two-year contract). The battery life isn’t impressive and the design of HTC’s interface is beginning to show...
- Blake Stimac, IntoMobileThe HTC One X plus is one hell of a phone, but it might not be for everyone. This isn't to say this is a bad phone in any way, as it has the guts to take on many of the big dogs and most certainly will. If you're thinking about upgrading to the One X+, you might want to look at the phone in your poc...
