Great build quality and a fantastic camera, but better-specified phones are available for only a little more money on contract.

Design is one of the real strengths of the HTC One V, especially when put alongside some of the rivals that are predominantly plastic.

Priced at reasonable cost, this is among the best mid range Android smartphones

The HTC One V is an attractive phone with blazing speed from 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and 512 MB RAM. The 5 megapixel camera, Beats Audio sound technology, Android 4.0 Ice cream sandwich and HTC Sense 4 makes device simply superb in the segment. Though non removable battery, no front camera... More

It’s thin, light, cheap to buy and cheaper service

If you’re in the market for a decent budget phone, it may be one to grab. It’s thin, light, cheap to buy and cheaper service. It’s almost descriptive of the phrase you get what you pay for, as it’s not Virgin Mobile’s greatest Android smartphone but gets the job done.

A retro-tastic Android smartphone that may be small in size, but is big at heart

The HTC One V is an all-around solid performer. It may lack the sex appeal and flashy specs of its larger HTC brothers, but for this class of device, it's hard to beat. The aluminum materials and Leno-esque chin give the One V a great little personality, while quality build and a comfortable footprint... More

Great build quality and a fantastic camera

If you're looking for a stylish handset with the latest version of Android and a decent camera, but don't need a great big screen and a fast processor, then the HTC One V is ideal. Its combination of great build quality, a single-core processor and Android 4.0 is unusual, and we can't think of any new... More

Solid build quality, good battery life, and performance isn't at all bad

John Thompson from Android Police ( 12 months ago )

I began this review by calling the One V 'cheap and cheerful', and that's exactly what it is. There's no doubt that this is an entry level smartphone - the specs sheet will tell you that - but with some careful refinements to Sense, HTC has managed to produce a phone that runs the latest version of Android... More

Quirky design, decent battery, and an overall nippy experience

The HTC One V will cost around £199 off contract, which considering its specifications is a bargain. With its quirky design it stands out from the rest of the mid-range Android crowd, and thanks to HTC's Dropbox partnership users get up to 57GB of storage. We were slightly disappointed that the phone... More

Good performance, very fast successive camera shutter, bright and sharp LCD display, and fantastic battery life

The One V is neither the best phone on the market, nor the best One Series device. But it isn’t trying to be: the device fits into a very important niche within the low-cost smartphone category, and at the moment there isn’t a better proposition. At $300 outright and $0 on a 3-year term (TELUS will... More

A great style and design about this handset and a great feel too

Leigh Geary from Coolsmartphone ( about 1 year ago )

I’m used to smartphones lasting around a day on battery life now. The One V did a little better and still had charge at midnight even after I’d powered it up at 6AM. There was a whiff of industrial design about this and it felt really good in the hand. I loved little things like the slimline notification... More

Battery life, build and style are all high points

The performance per pound level of the HTC One V can’t be faulted. As a mid-range smartphone, it’s best in class, just beating the Nokia Lumia 710 as an all-rounder and offers build and style that the Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus just can’t manage. Android 4.0, HTC Sense 4.0 and extras like Beats audio... More

The One V won't win the processor speed race, but it comes loaded with a few surprises of its own

Aloysius Low from Cnet ( about 1 year ago )

The HTC One V may be a low-cost handset, but it does have enough incentives such as the BSI sensor and ICS that make it worth considering. Sadly, the single-core processor is a little dated and not up to par, so you may encounter some lag if you like to play games. With a retail price of $317 without... More

Good screen. Seems well made. Nice design. Unfortunately, that's all the good I can say. Android 4 is a big disappointment. Included apps are incomplete and the interface with them is often non intuitive. Poor programming. Buying apps to improve a poor system is just throwing good money... More

Wonderful little device with great display. Thin, light with a rubberized shell. nice to hold and you can hol it all day long. Problem is that many HTCs, and this phone is no different, are plagued with a random and recurring boot-loop. You cannot remove he battery either. Soooo ... You're in... More
