Great build quality and a fantastic camera, but better-specified phones are available for only a little more money on contract.

Design is one of the real strengths of the HTC One V, especially when put alongside some of the rivals that are predominantly plastic.
The HTC One V is an entry-level tri-band smartphone with a single-core 1.0 GHz processor, 512 MB RAM and 4 GB of internal memory. Like most HTC phones, it runs Android OS, version 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
Weighing 115 grams, its design is sturdy with an aluminum casing and a chin. These enhance the feel of a phone when you hold it against your face. The phone is powered by a 1500 mAh battery and an impressive battery life of up to two days of normal usage.
Its 3.7 inch capacitive, Super LCD 2 touchscreen has an 800x480 resolution with 252 DPI.
Another good feature of this entry level smartphone is a powerful, 5 MP primary camera with a LED flash and face and smile detection features. The camera is capable of simultaneous recording of image and HD video.
On the downside, the HTC One V's 4 GB internal memory vanishes quickly once you download some apps. This, coupled with the humble CPU speed, makes the HTC a challenged smartphone if you are thinking of multi tasking and gaming. However, a bit of this is remedied by the availability of 25GB Dropbox cloud storage. You may also expand the memory to a maximum of 32 GB with a microSD card.
Data accessibility is supported via EDGE, Bluetooth, GPRS, WLAN and USB on a 3G platform. But, with the prevailing processor speed, browsing will not be at lightning speed.
On the downside again, if you rely on your smartphone to navigate, the HTC One V will disappoint because it lacks a digital compass. It does, however, feature an accelerometer and proximity sensors, Java MIDP emulator, stereo FM radio with RDS, an internal loudspeaker and a 3.5 mm external speaker jack.
