Make no mistake: if you're a US Cellular customer looking for the best phone the company has to offer, the Desire instantly becomes the no-brainer choice now that it's been released at retail. And actually, looking at all of the larger regionals, you could make an argument that this is perhaps the best device any of them are currently offering. HTC has done a tremendous job carrying the Desire's personality over from the GSM realm to CDMA, and if you can get over the lack of Froyo and the occasional less-than-perfect shot from the camera, you can't really go wrong.

First announced at Mobile World Congress 2010, we've had to wait seven long months for the HTC Desire to land Stateside, and admittedly, we were worried that it would come up short compared with some of the smartphones that have come out since. We were wrong. Sure, it doesn't have some of the latest and greatest features found on other smartphones, like a front-facing camera or an HDMI port, but it offers a solid feature set, top-notch design, and great performance. It's a particularly great and important addition for U.S. Cellular, whose smartphone lineup has been lacking and whose only Android offering up until now has been the Samsung Acclaim. In our book, it's hands down the best smartphone that the carrier has to offer. The HTC Desire will be available from U.S. Cellular starting August 27 for $199.99 with a two-year contract and after a $70 mail-in rebate.

Once in a while there’s a phone that actually lives up to the specs, the HTC Desire is one of those devices. This newest Android device from TELUS comes with OS 2.1 and the much talked about 3.7-inch Sony Super LCD display (resolution of 480×800). Other devices claim to have a 1GHz Snapdragon processor inside, but unfortunately underclock it. I’ve been using this for over a week and can say that the 1GHz Snapdragon processor is not underclocked and has zero lag time. Even switching between the 7 screens or running several applications at the same time there’s not a hint of the performance being stalled.

This is a smartphone with the same broad appeal as the iPhone. It is attractive, packed with features and highly enjoyable to play around with. Android Market is fast catching up to the Apple App Store in terms of choice and the HTC Desire is well placed to capitalize. Great value for money, top quality performance -- this is the mobile phone you’ve been waiting for.

Is the HTC Desire worth its price? Yes, definitely. We would have to become rather petty in order to come up with a list of shortcomings. If you like handsets with compact size and feel willing to sacrifice extra features for it, you better consider the HTC Legend – talking from experience here. Eager fans of high-tech devices surely know by now that the HTC Desire is what they want.

So far, I've had this phone for a month, at first the battery might seem really short, I had to end up charging it everyday, but of course, when you get a new phone you would go on it almost every minute and try to figure out how to use it. After I got use to the phone, I noticed that the battery wasn't all that bad. I still don't know how to use this phone to the full extent! There are soo many features to it, and this is a great phone.

Pros:
- responses quickly
- great resolution
- easy to use
- camera is decent, but MUCH better than most phone cameras
- comes with a 8gb memory card, WOW!
- has 'themes'
- very customizable
- apps are very good
- glass screen
- very durable, feels good in hand

Cons:
- when you remove the back, the cover is very flimsy, it feels like it's going to snap in half, be careful when removing the back cover
- the screen tends to catch finger prints
- wifi range isn't all that great, but that can be fixed with data plan.

Overall, this is a fantastic phone and I would recommend it to anyone who is considering on buying it. It's better than my old phone! (iPhone 3g)

This phone is MILES above the old HTC phones, I can tell you that. All the standard apps (internet, maps etc) work smoothly as though they are designed for the phone... as opposed to the old HTC smartphones where they just seemed to awquardly run them the best they could.

They style and homescreens customization is really cool. It even breaks down everything that is currently using your battery....really cool!

The bluetooth times out which I hate...but apparantly there's an app. for this.. i'll download it later.

Thus far i'm still struggling with the onscreen keyboard as opposed to the slide outs...but I have faith i'll get used to it.

I truly love this phone...not only does it give yu the bacis smartphone features it introduces new features like tetering and internet sharing! Not only that, telus is offering this phone on three years without a data plan so yu dont hav to worry qbout huge bills...and with wifi yu can connect anywhere! The only problem i had wid this phone is that it overheats if yu use it too long and the battery life is like average smartphones, a peice of shit. Still i would giv it it 4 out of 5.
