Just when you think there isn't much more that can be added to a cellular device, Apple again proves you wrong. With video-chat capabilities, a 5MP main camera, HD video-recording capabilities and iPod functionality built into the Apple iPhone 4, you have all the multimedia features you need to meet... More

A hugely impressive smartphone

Every iPhone elicits strong reactions from the fanboys on one side and the detractors on the other. Picking your way between the hype and the hate, there's no doubt that iPhone 4 is a hugely impressive smartphone. It corrects key flaws in the previous model – particularly the battery life – and is... More

The iPhone’s arrival on a second network solidifies its position in the very top tier of 2011's smartphones

The iPhone comes with a one-year limited warranty and 90 days of toll-free telephone support. An extended AppleCare warranty will cover your iPhone for two more years; it costs $69 extra. That cost was not factored into the price of our test unit.

After our testing, the question we were left with is... More

The iPhone 4 already has some of the best hardware out there

The Nokia N8 has a lot going for it. It is a multimedia powerhouse, packing a 12MP camera with a huge sensor, Carl-Zeiss lens, and a powerful Xenon flash. The Finnish handset also adds other notable virtues, that the iPhone 4 doesn't have, namely the ability to play almost any HD video file on a big... More

It is without doubt the best iPhone Apple has made, yet also perhaps the most careless

So two months down the line I remain besotted and bemused by the iPhone 4. It is without doubt the best iPhone Apple has made, yet also perhaps the most careless. Its redesign is exciting and durable (I've experienced virtually no wear and tear), but the facia looks increasingly dated with its huge top... More

It’s a capable and fun phone to use

It’s probably not going to be a surprise that I have a love / hate relationship with the iPhone 4. I’ve enjoyed using the iPhone since I purchased the original one. I love the display, the camera and of course, the wide variety of quality applications. That said, I am not a fan of AT&T’s... More

Superb design, outstanding display and excellent camera make it an enticing smartphone

Despite antenna issues, Apple's iPhone 4 is definitely the best iPhone yet. Its superb design, outstanding display and excellent camera make it an ideal upgrade for owners of older Apple handsets and enticing for non-iPhone owners. Many competing smartphones can do more, but none of them do it in a manner... More

It's the thinnest smartphone in the world with the highest resolution display ever built into a phone handset

Apple's fourth-generation smartphone really is its best yet, notwithstanding controversy about external antennae. In our tests, reception was outstanding. Its screen is the highest resolution of just about any screened gadget, with amazing colour and definition. An HD video/5Mp stills camera is joined... More

Naturally, the iPhone 4's much asked for features are as important as any for devoted iPhone users, and as such, it's a great addition to the smartphone market for many people (along with the $100 iPhone 3GS 8GB). However, as a "Jesus phone", it simply falls short as there are now other smartphones out... More

There is no reason to get a 3GS when you can go for an iPhone 4

Hubert Nguyen from Ubergizmo ( about 1 year ago )

The iPhone 4 is an excellent smartphone, the best one in fact. This is quite a step up from the iPhone 3GS, thanks to the display and the many improvements in the OS. If you don’t have an iPhone but want to get one, I would recommend the iPhone 4 over older models, despite the antenna issue. If... More

With a new design and improved specification, it is more than worthy of sitting in top place in the smartphone wars

Overall I absolutely love my iPhone 4. I always carry two phones as I have a work phone as well as my personal one so I currently have the best of both worlds. I use my BlackBerry 9700 for all email, instant messaging and Facebook/Twitter notifications and I use the iPhone 4 for using the web, sat nav,... More

Apple seems to be competing more with itself than trying to respond to the competition

The tech world has changed in the year between the announcement of the iPhone 3GS and the iPhone 4. In the intervening time, Apple released the iPad, and created a whole new way for people to interact with iOS apps. As someone who has both an iPhone and an iPad, I’ve discovered that the amount... More

If you can work round the signal drop issue, the iPhone is a treasure trove of tech delights

The Apple iPhone 4 is another classic slice of Apple. In just 12 months Steve Jobs and his band have again redefined mobile handsets. From the simply beautiful Retina Display to the addition of HD video, and from the idiot-proof UI to the attempted reinvention of video calling, the Apple iPhone 4 is... More

The iPhone 4 has, once again, reinterpreted Steve Jobs's original concept, maintaining a core look and feel, yet changing and improving almost every aspect of the experience. We've described some of the new iPhone's problems, but in practice they are more than balanced by how much it does very well.

I'm pleased with the iPhone 4. It's hard to write complaints when Apple just keeps making the phone better and better.

Apple iPhone 4Nowadays though, there is more competition than ever. I personally like competition, because then the companies strive to make the best product. The Droid X, EVO 4G, and... More

Out of the box, though, the iPhone 4 is one of the most polished, appealing smartphones on the market today. By boosting the camera, upgrading the screen and generally tightening up the whole user experience, Apple has neatly answered most of the complaints from previous models together with addressing... More

The iPhone reborn, and it never looked better

James Holland from Electricpig ( about 1 year ago )

Quite simply, the iPhone 4 is the best performing, best equipped, most well-rounded mobile phone ever made. Apple has silenced its critics, out-performed itself, and above all created an iPhone that will keep its competitors following its lead for another 12 months at least.

A few minor issues can't mask the fact that Apple has again produced the most desirable smartphone on the market

Jonathan Bray from PC Pro ( about 1 year ago )

There aren’t many areas in which we could criticise the iPhone 4. As usual, Apple has got the design spot on, and we think that most people will find the new handset even more lustworthy than before. But it’s worth pointing out a couple of minor issues.
We wouldn’t say that any of these... More

The iPhone 4 keeps up with the pack in terms of upgrading its speed and features

Tomas Ratas from TestFreaks ( about 1 year ago )

Overall I think the iPhone 4 keeps up with the pack in terms of upgrading its speed and features. Unlike past iPhones where the smartphone field was not as competitive the market now features challengers using Android and soon Windows 7 Mobile, so Apple will need to continue innovating and evolving the... More
