I am having the same problem but its just with text notifications....the sounds work on calls and Facebook notifications and also email...I've tried resetting it....checked all volumes in settings...still won't work...have you figured out the problem?

Maybe you are in silent mode. On your home screen, press volume up button 'til it maximizes the volume. Then test if you can hear anything.
