I'm on a very limited budget--therefore I need to "buy" one through one of the local cell-phone-provider companies in Canada, that has a "plan" with favourable monthly terms. Typically put up one half of the price, get the phone, and lock-in for two years with the plan...
--depending on the provider, SOMETIMES you can find one with RELATIVELY reasonable terms.

Canada has some of the most expensive, (and worst!) cell-phone coverage and "service" in the entire world....

Corporate monopolies in different regions of Canada add up to a situation that makes for expensive and "stiff" inflexible types of (what, collectively, THEY call) "service..... :o//

AFAIK, the "WIND Mobile" company has a $35.00 (Cdn.) "all in" plan for one of these phones (for the Ascend-Mate-2), but no advance notice of what the price MIGHT be (monthly contract) for the AM-7 whenever-the-hell it comes out!

Have you tried ordering one and have it shipped to you? I think sellers can do that.
