Why did the rear glass of Samsung Galaxy S6 randomly shattered?

Hey, i had to use my new S6 without a case for a few days until my protective case arrived, four hours of it just being in my pocket followed. I took the device out of my pocket, briefly used it and then gently placed in on my desk, only to start hearing a crackling noise in the room discovering it came from my phone i quickly picked it up and turn it over to witness shooting cracks scrabbling all over the rear glass, i have a small video clip of this actually happening and after checking the device there are no impact marks of any kind.
so my first question, is this a known fault or a defect with the glass?
and is a replacement or repair to this device covered under warranty as the device was less than two weeks old?

Same happened to me..only had Galaxy S6 78 days! Told SOL- goggles issue even on Samsung site...other devices with "gorilla glass" shattering for no apparent reason

Hmm.. Odd. If that's true, try visiting a service center and let them know of the issue. Good luck!

Yes, this just happened to me today. No drop, bang, etc. simply took out of pocket and back glass is shattered into thousands of pieces.

Very odd.
