Why won't Alcatel A392G charge?

Tried to charge battery, will not charge?

Hey Kathy! Re-install the battery and try charging your phone using a different charger. Usually it's just the cable causing this kind of problem.

My Dad purchased new Alcatel from Radio Shack 2 days ago:
After charging, till green light shows, battery symbol shows 2 bars while being turned on for 2 hours only.
Radio Shack is saying there is nothing wrong with phone, I strongly disagree.
