Why does the Alcatel One Touch 3040 lock the screen when trying to call someone?

When my old razor phone packed in, my sister bought me an Alcatel one touch tribe 3040 phone. The guy in radio shack put the voucher into the phone and have got £10 credit which ee then replaced it with a pack. my problem is that when trying to ring either 150 or any other number, a screen then covers the phone keyboard with a message "Touch here to unlock". One touches the screen then nothing happens at all. its as though the screen or phone is locked and I do not know how to get to my phone keyboard properly. I am disabled with having both legs amputated, so a mobile is essential for me when out in my wheelchair. On the Alcatel web site there is nothing to help you with this problem at all. The instructions I got are completely useless to me, almost 60 years of age, this will be my very first one touch phone and to be honest I am totally ignorant about the one touch development of today. Please please please can someone help me to get rid of this locked screen. thank you.

Hi Roy. Are you using a case with your phone? Or did you stick something on the upper part of the front side of the phone? Kindly remove them, then try making a call and see if it's the same.
