How did my 30 day prepaid plan from Virgin Mobile Canada become a 3 year contract?

Hi,
In December 2012 I upgraded my iPhone 4 to an iPhone 5. At this point I signed a new 3 year contract on the iPhone 5 and put my iPhone 4 on a 30 day pre paid contract. Now a year and half later when I am attempting to cancel this prepaid phone (which had already been paid out for the length of its original contract) I am being told that my pay as you go phone is on a 3 year contract. When signing up for the contract in the first place, the rep showed me that it had originally said 3 year for that phone but she had crossed it out and put 30 days because clearly the phone was already paid out and it was at a prepaid rate. Now virgin is erroneously stating that I have to pay 300 in termination fee for a phone that has already been paid for and is on prepaid. After spending an hour and half on the phone with Virgin they were unable to provide any contract with my signature stating that I had signed that, but stated that "their system stated it" so it must be true. Has anyone had anything similar or have any advice on how to contact someone at virgin who would actually care? The employee I reached, who gave me his employee number but not contact information, stated they would "look into it and call back back" but did not provide any ownership. Please Advise...
