Mac LeopardApple's much-anticipated OS X 10.5 codenamed Leopard will not be released this quarter and instead it will be available in October. The main reason for the delay is that Apple had to reassign key software personnel from the Leopard to work on the iPhone, an even much-more anticipated product from Apple.

Apple's iPhone will run the complete OS X operating system... "the iPhone contains the most sophisticated software ever shipped on a mobile device, and finishing it on time has not come without a price—we had to borrow some key software engineering and QA resources from our Mac OS(R) X team, and as a result we will not be able to release Leopard at our Worldwide Developers Conference in early June as planned.”

Apple is confident about its Mac computers and is willing to face the complaints that are sure to follow this delay in redistributing its employees to service a more crucial product. Some analysts, however, observed that this is Apple's second delay this year with its AppleTV shipping a full month later than was earlier announced.
